1.MY OPINION
This is basically your standard platform game, but your nemesis is a giant
ape.
I've played it on Colecovision, atari 2600, and Arcade but I would have to say
this is the best version that I've played. It is really, really, really fun.
BUT WHERE'S THE FACTORY LEVEL?!? Oh well, I suppose you can't please everyone.
The graphics are good, but nothing special - or mabye they ARE special, but I
think they are ordinary because I've been playing way to much Gamecube. But
they are still good.
They sound effects are average, just BEEPS and BANGS and the occasional BUONG,
but the music is very nice indeed. Unfortunately, the average gamer could
knock mode A off in about 20 mins. But mode B is still quite challenging.
But even when I clock the game for the 50 bazillionth time I find that I
continue to play. And again. And again. Then a brief rest until my eyes start
watering from staring at the screen. And then a few more times. Then you
realize that you're 74 years old and staring at a carrot.
It is just that fun.
2.GAME BASICS
Here I give you some basic infomation about the game,Like stuff you'd mostly
stuff you find in the instruction manual for Donkey Kong. But hey,Who can be
bothered reading 'em? There are 2 modes A & B. A is the easier mode and B has
more enemies that move a lot faster.
i.STORY
It seems that the damn dirty ape (donkey kong, you morons), has gone and
stolen Marios beloved girlfriend. Mario wants her back but donkey keeps
climbing up a building to keep her for his own usage. So Mario needs to
save her while she stands there screaming "help". Simple, but effective.
ii.CONTROLS
Left: Mario moves to the left.
Right: Mario moves to the right.
Up: Mario climbs up the ladders
Down: Mario climbs down the ladders
Start: Pause the game
Starts selected game in menu.
Select: Choose game in the menu.
A: Mario jumps
B: Not used.
iii.ENEMIES
These are not the real names. I made them up, but I think they get the
point across.In every level there is a DK. All enemies (except DK) can
be destroyed with a hammer. Otherwise you have to jump over them.
LEVEL 1
Barrel-Standard orange barrel. Can roll down ladders.
Blue Barrel-Sometimes acts as a barrel, sometimes as a thing that can do
practically anything. Can be ignited into a fireball.
Fireball-Fireballs can act as a mario, but can't jump. Very annoying.
LEVEL 2
Fireball-Fireballs can act as a mario, but cant jump. Very annoying.
Weird springy thing-Weird sringy purple, err, spring.Makes an annoying sound.
FINAL LEVEL
Ghost Duck-Intelligent things. Look like a a ghost but is a duck (I think).
DK-Public Enemy no 1. He is like the commander of the ghost ducks.
iv.CHARACTERS
Mario-Main character and guy you contol. Dresses in red.
Donkey Kong-Giant evil gorilla. Hes kinda brown.
Pauline-Marios girlfriend. Does nothing.
v.SCORING
At the start of the level your time-o-meter gives you 5000 points. Every
second
it goes down until the level is over.
vi.ITEMS
All items are worth 300 points and 800 points in mode B
The items are
Handbag (it is NOT a bucket)
Umbrella
MODE A WALKTHROUGH
Here we have the FAQ for mode A. Each level I will provide a map, info and a
walkthrough.

INFO-This would be the most famous of the Donkey Kong levels. It is also the
only level that involves barrels (both kinds). It also contains 2 hammers.
But I dont recomnend using them. Overall this a fairly challenging level that
may take a couple of tries before you get it.
WALKTHROUGH-At the start go to the first complete ladder you see. Climb up,
and
you should be able to get to the next ladder in time before the barrel comes.
Jump a barrel and go to the next ladder. When you come up, watch for some
barrels that roll down the ladders. Move onto the next ladder. Again, watch
out
for barrels that roll down the ladder and hit you.
Then simply jump a barrel or 2 and go up to Paulines platform.

INFO-Normally Level 2 would be the Factory level (the level with the evil
pies and conveyer belt) but it wasn't included in this port.The elevater on
the
left goes up, and the elevater on the right goes downward. This is the only
level that has the wierd springy things. THEY ARE SO ANNOYING!!!!!
This a challenging level that I used to absolutely hate.
WALKTHROUGH-Climb up the ladder and get the item. Go back down to the middle
platform and jump onto the elevater.Jump over to the next platform above 2
ladders.If you at the top of it, you can jump onto the elevater and then onto
the platform to your right too it to save time.Otherwise, jump off at the
platform at the bottom and continue on. When you get to the next platform a
weird springy thing will jump in between the platform your standing on and the
next one.
When you get to the ladder, climb up. On the next platform there is an
annoying
fireball. Wait for it to go up and then keep on proceeding until you get to
the
final ladder.Climb up, and you will notice the weird springy things bounce
over
you.When he jumps over you, proceed to go and rescue Pauline.
LEVEL 3

INFO-In this level you must run/jump over all the gold hinges (marked as a ^
on
the map. When you do this DK will fall and you will have Pauline. This is the
only level that has the ghost ducks. Occasionaly when you try to jump them
they
will change direction and you will land on them, so watch out. This level also
has a hammer, but is not needed in the level.
WALKTHROUGH-In this level, you have to run/jump over all the gold hinges. Go
up
the closest ladder and run over the hinges. Watch out, as Ghost ducks often
appear on this floor. Then go up the next ladder, and do the same thing.
Collest the items on the way while still Watching out for the ghost ducks as
well. Go up the next ladder and do the same thing. But for the very top
platform,if you touch DK he'll throw you away like your nothing but a grammy
award. So you have to around and do them individually. When you do them all,
DK will falland smash his head, while Mario and Pauline get back together.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! You have just beaten Donkey Kong. Now you can do it all
again!
4.MODE B DIFFERENCES
In this section I will describe what differences there are between mode "A"
and
mode "B".
LEVEL 1
-DK releases more barrels
-The barrels have a different route down
-At the start DK will release a blue barrel that goes diagonal across the
screen.
At the start if you keep on runnin' you'll just make it to the ladder
LEVEL 2
-Weird springy things are faster
-DK releases more weird springy things
LEVEL 3
-Ghost ducks are more intelligent
-More ghost ducks appear
