Abstract - Many practical studies are carried out to investigate factors affecting senior high school

students’ performance. The focus of this research is that student performance in intermediate
examination is linked with students’ outline consisted of his approach towards communication, learning
facilities, proper guidance and family stress during this pandemic. The research is based on student
profile developed on the bases of information and data collected through assessment from students of
the senior high school students of SCSHS.

Factors that affects the Senior High School Students’ Academic Performance in the New Normal Setting
of Education

The COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine period determined that senior high students in SCSHS had
adopted the modular class, which required them to adapt themselves to new technologies and
environmental conditions that are different from classrooms at their school. Specifically, these new
environmental conditions can be uncomfortable and have an impact on the students’ academic
performance. Consequently, the present study aims to determine the impact that the lighting, noise,
and temperature levels (independent variables) have on academic performance (dependent variable) in
university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do this, a questionnaire was developed, which
was applied to 206 university students online, and a structural equation model was built that integrates
the four variables through three hypotheses, which were statistically validated through the partial least
squares method. Results showed that temperature, lighting, and noise have significant direct effects on
university students’ academic performance. As a conclusion, it was obtained that the three independent
variables have an impact in the sustainability of university students (human resource).

The Coronavirus pandemic and the quarantine period determined that senior high students had
received the modular class, which expected them to adjust to new innovations and natural conditions
that are unique in relation to homerooms at their school. In particular, these new environmental
conditions can be uncomfortable and have an impact on the students’ academic performance. Thus, the
current study intends to decide the effect that the financial issue, learning facility, proper guidance and
emotional wellness have on academic performance in senior high students during the Coronavirus
pandemic. To do this, a questionnaire was developed, which was applied to senior high students online.
As a conclusion, it was obtained that the four independent variables have an impact in the academic
performance of senior high students.
