专项技能训练(12)
(Text 1)
W: I really liked those paintings we saw this morning. What did you think of
them?
M: I’ve never seen such paintings before. I guess that kind of art just isn’t my
taste.
(Text 2)
W: You haven’t seen my school paper, have you? I hope I didn’t leave it in the
reading room.
M: I’m afraid you might have left it on the bus. I saw you reading it on the bus
and then you fell asleep.
(Text 3)
M: How about joining me for a cup of tea?
W: I’d love to, but I’m too busy writing an essay for my literature class.

2
M: Then I’ll just go to the library. I don’t want to sit here and drink tea by
myself.
(Text 4)
M: What a bad day! I did something to my ankles when I was playing football
with my friends today. Now they both really hurt, and I can’t move around
easily.
W: Don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll heal quickly if you stop your regular activities for
a while.
(Text 5)
W: May I see your ticket, please? I think you are sitting in my seat.
M: Oh, you’re right. I’m terribly sorry. My seat is behind yours. I failed to see the
number clearly because the light in the hall went off when the movie started.
(Text 6)
W: Hey, Bob, guess what? I’m going to visit Quebec this summer.
M: Oh, that’s nice, Sara! Are you going there to go sightseeing?
W: Not exactly. I’ve been invited to go to my cousin Tom’s wedding, but after that
I’d also like to do some sightseeing.
M: But when are you going? I heard you’re going to attend a conference in
France next week.
W: Yes, I will. I’ll go to Quebec just after I come back from France. The wedding
is on August 10th. I’ll have a two-week holiday from August 8th to 21st.
M: So when will you return?
W: I’ll be back two days before the end of my holiday. I want to rest for a few
days before I start work again.
(Text 7)
W: This looks like a nice restaurant.
M: Yes, I’ve been here a few times before. Let’s sit over there by the window.
W: OK … Can you pass me a menu, please?
M: Sure. What are you going to have to drink? Red wine?
W: No. I’ve quit drinking. I’ll just have a glass of water. What about you?
M: I want some beer. Do you want to order a salad first?
W: Not really.
M: OK. What are you going to order?
W: I’m not sure. I haven’t decided yet. Can you recommend something?
M: Sure. I’ve had the steak and the fish before. They’re both very good.
W: Well, fish makes me sick, so I’ll have the steak. What about you?
M: I think I’ll have the fish. I’m going to go and make a phone call. When the
waitress comes back, could you order for me?
W: No problem.
(Text 8)
W: Did you have a passion for writing when you were a kid?
M: Yes. I spent a lot of time making up and writing stories.
W: Did you always dream of becoming a writer?
M: Sure. I remember when I was about 7 or 8 years old, I told my brothers that I

3
wanted to write books when I grew up.
W: Did they support you?
M: No. They all laughed at me. I guess they thought that kids who are that
young shouldn’t have dreams like that.
W: Were you discouraged?
M: No. I would write short stories and ask them to read them. They just ignored
me at first, but as time went by, they couldn’t wait to read my new stories.
W: Do you do a lot of research when writing a book?
M: Yes. The Internet has made it so much easier to do research. For example, I
needed to know the temperature in Lake Erie in Gary in 1936. I typed it in
and it came right up.
(Text 9) 内江竞赛
M: Hi, Willow! So, in the Hunger Games movie series, you played the role of
Prim. Could you tell me something about this role?
W: Sure. She is Katniss’s sister. Katniss volunteers to compete in the Hunger
Games just in order to save Prim.
M: How do you relate to Prim?
W: Well, Prim is always there for her family, and she also has a real love for
animals. It’s easy to connect with her because I love my family and animals,
too.
M: You have a twin sister named Autumn. How are you and Autumn alike and
different?
W: We are actually very different. I’m into acting, and she’s more into art. She’s
a little bit shyer than I am but very clever.
M: What do you like to do when you don’t have to work?
W: Well, what I have to do is study at school.
M: Do you find it difficult to balance doing work and school?
W: It’s a little bit difficult because some days I might not be able to finish my
homework, so I need to stay up very late, but it’s worth it.

Do you like shopping online? If you do, you must have heard about or made
use of the service called Amazon Prime Now. This service was started in New
York City last year. It can deliver goods to you within an hour. It’s cheap, easy,
and really fast.
I started using it in the middle of this year. It was burning hot outside that
day and I didn’t want to go out to buy some dog food, so I downloaded the
Amazon Prime Now app. It is the only way to place an order with Amazon Prime
Now. I placed the order at 2:30 pm and I received my package five minutes
before the time it was due.
I regretted using the one-hour delivery, because it cost me $7.99. If you can
wait for more than one hour for your order, delivery is free. So now, if I don’t
need my package within an hour, I just choose free delivery, since it is still very
fast but costs nothing.
One warning, though, as you try out this new service. Since shopping online

4
is so easy, it can be hard to stop buying things that you don’t need. So think
twice before you place an order, or you’ll end up getting many unnecessary
things.
