Work emersion is the creative way of students to showcase what are the best
output and activities. Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for
graduation. A Senior High School student has to undergo Work Immersion in an
industry that directly relates to the student’s postsecondary goal.

Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiar
with work-related environment related to their field of specialization to enhance their
competence. Specifically, the students are able to, gain relevant and practical
industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers, appreciate the
importance and application of the principles and theories taught in school, enhance
their technical knowledge and skills, enrich their skills in communications and human
relations, develop good working habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work.
These prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher
education after graduation.

Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS)
Curriculum consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation which
the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual
workplace setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school under the
supervision of the School Head and the designated personnel of the Partner.” In
view of this, the Work Immersion Portfolio is a compilation of written works, activities,
and experiences that we have completed as a student in Work Immersion. It
contains documents which will provide tangible evidences of the wide range of
knowledge, skills, we possess as a growing professionals. Therefore, Work
Immersion portfolio determines how a student shows the faculty that they are making
progress toward achieving the stated standards or outcomes of the work site.

This Work Immersion Portfolio will serve as a workbook for the students who
will take up the course/subject Work Immersion in Senior High School. This
workbook will essentially foster in-depth learning of the world of work and
assessment of student’s performance during work immersion.

For students

 The portfolio will be used as a source of motivation and guide for work
immersion.
 This will serve as a documentation and approval of lessons learned
 This will provide feedback of their performance level.
 This will pave the way in preparation for real job application

For school

 This contains regulations and conditions regarding contract between

school and student.
 This is information about curriculum and record of lessons learned.
 This is a record of student-trainees performance for assessment.

GENERAL BIOLOGY 2

How is plant reproduction different from animal reproduction?

Introduction

Reproduction is the production of offspring. There are two main forms:

sexual and asexual reproduction. In sexual reproduction, an organism combines the
genetic information from each of its parents and is genetically unique. In asexual
reproduction, one parent copies itself to form a genetically identical offspring. To
produce new offspring of the same species is called reproduction. Advantages are.
First, in sexual reproduction more variations are created than asexual reproduction.
Second, in sexual reproduction there are more possibilities that the new one will
have the better characters of both and they have more chances to survive. And also
the disadvantages of it first is, Negative mutations linger longer in asexual
organisms, Population numbers can be difficult to control, and Overcrowding can be
a real issue.

Reproduction is essential for the continuation of a species. It ensures the

continuation of similar kinds of individuals, generation after generation.

Fertilization: The process of combining the male gamete, or sperm, with

the female gamete, or ovum. The product of fertilization is a cell called a zygote.

Sexual: it means the reproduction involves the coming together of genetic

material from two parents so as to produce an offspring. Two haploid gametes unite
resulting in a genetically distinct diploid offspring.

Asexual reproduction: is a type of reproduction that does not involve the

fusion of gametes or change in the number of chromosomes. The offspring that arise
by asexual reproduction from either unicellular or multicellular organisms inherit the
full set of genes of their single parent.

Objectives

Reproduction of plants takes place asexually like by budding, vegetative

methods, spores, wind, or through insects, whereas some lower animals like algae
reproduce asexually while higher animals reproduce sexually and give birth to the
young ones.

Plants and animals are falling under the category multicellular, eukaryotes
and are estimated to be around seven million species on earth till date, excluding
bacteria, mushrooms, and lichens. Both plants and animals are easy to differentiate,
but there are certain characters which makes them unique in themselves. But apart
from that, the few basic things shares by them is the ecosystem, the surrounding and
their dependability on each other.
There are many factors on which plants and animals can be distinguished, not
at the physical level but at cellular level too. They also have their own importance too
in many ways. On the way of focussing the point of differentiation among the two
terms, we will also provide a brief summary on them through this content.

Concept

Reproduction in plants is either asexual or sexual. Asexual reproduction in

plants involves a variety of widely disparate methods for producing new plants
identical in every respect to the parent. Sexual reproduction, on the other hand,
depends on a complex series of basic cellular events, involving chromosomes and
their genes that take place within an elaborate sexual apparatus evolved precisely
for the development of new plants in some respects different from the two parents
that played a role in their production

In order to describe the modification of reproductive systems, plant groups

must be identified. One convenient classification of organisms sets plants apart from
other forms such as bacteria, algae, fungi, and protozoans. Under such an
arrangement, the plants, as separated, comprise two major groups—the nonvascular
bryophytes (mosses, hornworts, and liverworts) and the vascular tracheophytes. The
vascular plants include the seedless lycophytes and ferns (both groups are
considered lower vascular plants) and the two groups of seed plants, the
gymnosperms and angiosperms.

Reproduction (or procreation) is the biological process by which new

“offspring” (individual organisms) are produced from their “parents.” It is a
fundamental feature of all known life that each individual organism exists as the
result of reproduction. Most importantly, reproduction is necessary for the survival of
a species. The known methods of reproduction are broadly grouped into two main
types: sexual and asexual.

In asexual reproduction, an individual can reproduce without involvement

with another individual of that species. The division of a bacterial cell into two
daughter cells is an example of asexual reproduction. This type of reproduction
produces genetically-identical organisms (clones), whereas in sexual reproduction,
the genetic material of two individuals combines to produce offspring that are
genetically different from their parents.

Animals have exceptions like Sponges and Corals. ... Reproduction of plants
takes place asexually like by budding, vegetative methods, spores, wind, or through
insects, whereas some lower animals like algae reproduce asexually while higher
animals reproduce sexually and give birth to the young ones.

Reflection

In this study, I realized how plant differs from animal, and also their
purpose in the community, how they live and how they protect themselves. In
addition, I learned about the two importance of reproduction which is ‘’ Procreation
and Quality improvement”; “Procreation” can sustains the species so that it does not
become extinct, and the “Quality improvement” it allows for the mixing of genetic
materials leading to variation among individuals in a species.

Testing and evaluating a prototype/developed design is a very important

part of the design and manufacturing process. Testing and evaluation, simply
confirms that the product will work as it is supposed to, or if it needs refinement. In
general, testing a prototype allows the designer and client to assess the viability of a
design.

Some example of testing and evaluating are Sketches and diagrams, 3D

printing or rapid model, Physical model and Wireframe.
Reflection

This particular study really needs to put on a portfolio because it has a lot of
advantage to make a plan better in the future. This study can be acceptable because
it meet all the criteria that were given. In conclusion, i admire this particular study
because it has its own strength and weakness, the strength of this study is the
product description because it shows every point of the product and probably the
weakness is the design or the appearance of the product.

May mga oras na ako’y napapa-isip na manatili na lang dito ngunit hindi

The Influences of Social media: Depression, and Anxiety to Grade 11 Students

CHAPTER I

Background of the Study

In today’s world, social media is playing an indispensable role on the learning

behaviour of university students to achieve sustainable education. The impact of
social media on sustainable education is becoming an essential and impelling factor.
The world has become a global village and technology use has made it a smaller
world through social media and how it is changing instruction. (Abbas et. al 2019).

In the early 2000’s, the Web became much more personal as social networking
websites were introduced and embraced by the masses. Social networking sites
(SNS) are defined as web-based services that allow individuals to construct a public
or semi-public profile within a limited system, articulate a list of other users with
whom they share a connection, and view and traverse their list of connections and
those made by others within the system. The nature and terms of these connections
may vary from site to site. (Samadi, B.2014).

Social media provides forums in which teens can encourage each other in unhealthy
and dangerous behaviours. Hence, teens with eating disorders or teens that self-
harm can connect with others to talk about their self-destructive routines. In these
online forums, obsessive calorie counting, fasting, or other exercising are accepted
and encouraged. As a result, teens may learn ways to hide or increase the
behaviour, putting them at greater risk.

In addition, the very act of using social media has unhealthy results. For one, social
media use negatively affects sleep because the artificial blue light given off by
smartphones activates arousing neurons in the brain. Hence, these chemicals
disrupt the body’s ability to produce melatonin, a sleep-inducing hormone.(J.Monroe,
2017).

Social networking sites (SNSs) are Web-based platforms on which individuals

connect with other users to generate and maintain social connections. Considerable
disagreement exists as to associations that SNS use may have with depression and
anxiety. On the one hand, SNSs may protect from mental illness, as they support
and enable social interaction and connection and allow users to reflect aspects of
their identity and express emotion that may be relevant to their lived experience. On
the other hand, there are many opportunities for miscommunications and
mismanaged expectations, and maladaptive tendencies can be exaggerated, leaving
individuals feeling a greater sense of isolation. As a whole, the SNS environment
may be just as complex as face-to-face interactions. (Seabrook et, al 2016).
The study will provide such knowledge to the students with regards to harmful
effects of excessive use of social media, and even to the parents, they will be given
enough knowledge about it, and how they will guide their children.

Statement of Objectives

This study was conducted to determine the number of grade 11 students who
are suffering depression and anxiety.

Specifically, it sought to address the following objectives:

• To determine the number of students who are suffering from depression and
anxiety

• To determine how much time they spend in social media

Significance of the Study

The results of this study can provide information about the students who are
suffering from depression and anxiety.

The researcher perceived the study to be explicitly beneficial to the following:

Students: the study will help them to widen their knowledge about depression
and anxiety causes by social media.

Parents: this study will give them enough knowledge to be aware of the
harmful effects of excessive use of social media.

Futures researchers: this particular study can be their basis for their future
studies

Theoretical and Conceptual Framework of the Study

The study aimed to determine the causes of excessive use of social media to
the students of Murong, National High School.
Social
media

Depression Anxiety

Students

The framework shows the flow of the study. These identified the two major
causes of excessive use of social media which are Depression and Anxiety. From
the study of Karim, et. al (2020), Social media has recently become part of people's
daily activities; many of them spend hours each day on Messenger, Instagram,
Facebook, and other popular social media. Thus, many researchers and scholars
study the impact of social media and applications on various aspects of people’s
lives. Moreover, the number of social media users worldwide in 2019 is 3.484 billion,
up 9% year-on-year. On the other hand, social theories found how social media use
affects mental health by influencing how people view, maintain, and interact with
their social network. A number of studies have been conducted on the impacts of
social media, and it has been indicated that the prolonged use of social media
platforms such as Facebook may be related to negative signs and symptoms of
depression, anxiety, and stress Furthermore, social media can create a lot of
pressure to create the stereotype that others want to see and also being as popular
as others.
Research Paradigm

This Paradigm shows the whole process of the research, it shows how things
are connected, especially if students' time on social media is right, what they use,
and how they feel about excessive use of social media. Facebook, messenger,
twitter and instagram are included because these sites are very popular with young
people today particularly students. This model also shows that social media can
cause illness in students, such as depression and anxiety.
Scope and Delimitation

The study “The influences of social media: depression and anxiety to Grade
11 students” will be conducted in MURONG NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL, BAGABAG
NUEVA VIZCAYA. The respondents of this study will be the grade 11 students of
MNHS.

The research aims to evaluate the adverse effects of inappropriate use of

social media to grade 11 students of MNHS.

Definition of Terms

The following are key terms used in the development of the study and some
related terms are hereby defined operationally or conceptually.

Depression, Is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness

and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it
affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and
physical problems.

Anxiety, an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts

and physical changes like increased blood pressure.

SNS, a social networking service (also social networking site or social media)
is an online platform which people use to build social networks or social relationships
with other people who share similar personal or career interests, activities,
backgrounds or real-life connections.

Artificial blue light, this is known as your circadian rhythm. ... Artificial sources
of blue light include electronic devices such as cell phones and laptop computers, as
well as energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs and LED lights.

Insights

Since work immersion is a part of the current education syllabus, the K to 12

Curriculum, I am somehow aware of what is it about and what it is for, as a
graduating student who is getting ready and prepare for the upcoming collage
experience, it is a privilege to have advance knowledge and experiences to be
mindful of what I should I expect and anticipate in a college experience.

Portfolio is just like a book, different kinds, meaning, and thoughts but just like
a book it gives as knowledge to everything despite of the differences.

Portfolios can encourage students to take more ownership and responsibility

over the learning process. ... Because portfolios document learning growth over time,
they can help students reflect on where they started a course, how they developed,
and where they ended up at the conclusion of the school year.

Portfolios enable students to gain deeper insights about themselves and their
knowledge by examining their academic and personal experiences and the
relationships among those experiences. Portfolios help students to integrate and
synthesize what they have learned, develop an intellectual identity, and make
deliberate choices in their learning careers. Portfolios help students see connections
between subject areas, curricular learning, and co-curricular experiences. Integrating
experiences helps students develop intellectually and personally.
