User Manual
Zhengyu Meteorological Instruments Co., LtdYF6 Wind Speed Alarm User Manual
|. Brief Introduction
YF6 wind speed alarm have been widely used for several decades in
applications of such as railway loading machineries, port-loading machineries,
construction tower cranes, bridges, airports, power plants, mines, high-level
equipments and watercrafts where wind speed alerting control is necessary,
and have also been exported to many other nations and regions worldwide.
YF6 is developed to meet our user's latest requirements of being capable
of setting wind speed-sampling time arbitrarily with wind speed between 1 —
10s.
Il. Technical specification
1. Measurement range of wind speed: 0 — 60m/s.
with the error at +(0.5+0.05V) m/s, V—wind speed measurement.
2. Wind speed display: Display continuous average wind speed measured
‘on condition that sampling time is set arbitrarily within 1 — 10s, wind
speed instantaneous sampling value: one each 4s, min,
3. Pre-alarm range: 1 — 40m/s, arbitrarily setting.
4. Alarm range: 1 - 40m/s, arbitrarily setting.
5. Analog output: 4 — 20mA_
6. Power supply: AC 220V or optinal + 10%, 50Hz or 60Hz.
Fuse: 1A @5X20mm.
7. Remote measurement distance: < 100m (with 3-core cable of
cross-section at 0.4mm’).
8. Volume: sensor 2184mm, height 250mm.
display box 180 100 x 110 (mm).
9. Weight: About 2kg.

‘Analog output is linear, and wind speed error is in consistent with error
formula.
Ill. Principle and Function
Wind power acts on the wind cup, and force photoelectric code plate to
alter output level status of photoelectric converter, the number of pulse
outputs changes in proportion to different wind speeds. Wind speed impulses
are read to. counting circuit of SCM continuously, continuous arithmetical
average set within 1~10s is sent to digital tube to display the average wind
speed after 1s sampling is over, and current analog output is provided at the
‘same time. In case that the measured wind speed is under the alarm value,
the green light will be on, and in case that the tested wind speed reaches the
critical alarm value, the alarm will keep beeping.
‘The master machine possesses both pre-alarm sub-contact and alarm
sub-contact, the middle of each set of sub-contact is midline, the left side is
normal open and the right side is normal close. When the tested wind speed
reaches the set alarming speed, the relay will start to work: normal close
contact trips and normal open contact closes, and user can take advantage of
this as they like. Besides, 4~20mA analog output is available for data
processing with computer.
IV. Installation and Debugging
1. The sensor of the alarm should be installed in the highest point of the
location without any obstacles surrounding, outer diameter of the top tube of
the installation frame should be of 253mm, while the interior diameter of the
whole tube must be no less than that of@35mm (for the sake of being as the
passage of seven core cable plug),
2. Insert the master machine into the square hole of the instrument box.
See the drawing for the outline and dimensions of the master machine.
Debugging: Connect the master machine to power supply, turn on
power supply switch, the display of 0.00 in 5 seconds indicates normal.
Then connect the sensor with the master machine, move the wind cup
of the sensor by hand, and corresponding signals should occur in the
amaster machine. If the master machine is still with the display of 0.00,
which is an abnormal consequence that may be caused by the
connecting cable or fault of the sensor.
3. In case that user connects the cables by themselves, the operation
should be in consistent with the following requirements: 2* wire of seven
core cable plug indicates positive pole of power supply and 5* wire indicates
negative pole, 7* wire is for signal purpose. Please be sure that the
connection of the wires should be in accordance to the above arrangements.
For 4-core cable plug: 1%*+" 2*~"3*-signal 4*-GND
Shielded wire is strongly recommended if strong power frequency
disturbance exists.
4, After the debugging is finished, install the sensor as required above.
V. Detailed Operation and Functions of the Keys on the
Panel
Example, if a user needs the following combination: 1. Wind speed
‘sampling interval at 8s 2. Alarm at wind level of 8 (18 m/s) 3. Pre-alarm at
wind level of 7 (14 mis) is preferred,
To operate as the following steps:
Note 1: key-press duration — to avoid error with key-press, each
key-press should last at least 0.5 second,
Note 2: selection-123 key — press once the key for pre-alarm setting,
twice for the choice of alarm value, three times for setting of wind speed
sampling time and press four times will renew the system,
4. Setting of wind speed sampling time — continuously press
key three times(now you should find the wind speed sampling
time set before)-press Setting key (now flashes will be on) —press [+] or
E] key to adjust the time to 8 seconds—press [OK key to finish the setting.
32. Setting of alarming speed — press seletiontz8 key once (now you
should find the alarming speed set before) —press [setting key (now flashes
will be on) —press [+] or [=] key to adjust the speed to 18m/s —- press
(OK) key to finish the setting.
Notice: The alarming speed should always be higher than pre-alarming
speed, so pre-alarming speed should be adjusted lower if alarming
speed cannot be adjusted lower. i
3. Setting of pro-alarming speed — press [selection-123| key twice —
press [setting key~press [+] o1 key to adjust the speed to 14m/s >
press [OK key to finish the setting
Notice: 1. The pre-alarming speed should always be lower than alarming
speed, so alarming speed should be adjusted higher if pre-alarming
speed cannot be adjusted higher. 2. In case of the pre-alarming is
unnecessary, just setting pre-alarming speed same as alarming speed.
4. [Wind level / light off | key — press this key to find the wind level, the
display will be reset if the tested wind level exceeds the alarm level once, and
alarming sound will be stopped while the alarm light is still on, press this key
to turn off the light.
Frequent check of the settings is needed to avoid the emergence of any
confusion.
Pre-alarm sub-contact and alarm sub-contact, analog output
VI. Maintenance
The wind cup of the sensor is made from high-tech materials such as
carbonized fiber, which is free of damage from wind force and erosion, but the
material is brittle, so direct collision with the wind cup is forbidden as this is
will result in damage, and since the wind cup is very expensive, dedication is
needed in the maintenance with it
The sensor belongs to mechanical transmission categories, and wears
down dramatically as it is working in a field condition, for the purpose of
prolonging the sensor’s life and ensuring of its precision, a routine
maintenance should be carried out every two years, or the sensor may be
sent back to our company for detailed maintenance, lubrication or repair.
