Description Kaiser Permanente (KP) is America's largest not-for-profit health maintenance

organization, serving 8.1 million members in 9 states and the District of
Columbia. An integrated health delivery system, KP organizes, provides and
coordinates members' care, including preventive care such as well-baby and
prenatal care, immunizations, and screening diagnostics; hospital and medical
services; and pharmacy services.
KP serves members in California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Ohio,
Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
As a not-for-profit organization, KP is driven by the needs of their members
and social obligation to provide benefit for the communities in which they
operate, rather than the needs of shareholders. Social benefit activities include
introducing new delivery and financing methods into the health care arena at
large; and developing and sharing better ways to care for patients through
clinical research efforts.
KP has Common Membership (CM) System, a national application, provides
Georgia, Ohio, Colorado, Northwest, and Hawaii regions with the capability of
maintaining group and member eligibility and demographic information and
billing, collecting payments and reconciling their accounts. This is an IBM
mainframe-based application developed in-house using COBOL II and IBM’s
Visual Age Generator programming languages. The system runs under CICS
for on-line transaction processing, and under MVS for nightly batch processing.
CM uses IBM’s DB2 database

onsite/offshore.

across to clients.

of Technical System Design, development and ETS and UAT support
in MVS OS/390 using CICS, COBOL/DB2.
 Involved in almost all phases of SDLC - from Requirements analysis
