Abbreviations
mr = Magic ring
ch = Chain
dc = Double crochet
st = Stitch
slst = Slip stitch
sc = Single crochet
() = Parentheses are used for repeated patterns of stitches, example: (2 sc, inc) x3 means
repeat 3 times (2 single crochet and one increase).
inc = 2 sc in the same stitch
dec = sc 2 together but working in the front loops only
Front post dc = Double crochet in front post (Note: see photo tutorial at end of pattern).

This pattern is written in US terminology and worked in spiral unless otherwise stated. Bear’s head is
crocheted as one piece from top to bottom. Other parts are made separately.
HEAD

Attach the safety eyes between rounds 14 and 15 with 7 stitches in-between (fig 5).
Tip: skip the 12 stitches from the beginning, attach the first eye, skip next 7 stitches and attach
second eye.

How to finish:
Using the long tail of yarn, start from second loop. Sew the opening through the front loops by
going across each stitch (fig 9, 10 and 11).

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail (40 cm), we are going to sew the head to strip later.
MUZZLE
1- 6 sc in magic ring 6

You should make round 6 if you like the muzzle more deep.
How to Invisible Fasten off:
Using a needle, insert it in both loops of the second stitch after the last stitch (fig 12). Then,
insert it only in the back loop of the last stitch (fig 13). Secure the yarn and use the remaining
yarn tail for sewing.

STRIP
●Note
The amount of round for the strip may vary depending on the yarn and size ring you use. (I only
needed 9 rounds after the foundation chain when I made my bear toy).

Round 1: crochet 25 chains.
Round 2-10: 1 starting chain, 24 sc.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
ASSEMBLING:
- Place the top of muzzle on the same line as top of eyes (fig 17) and 8 rounds bellow.
Stuff it and fix with pins. Sew the muzzle to head (fig 18).

- Sew the ears on each side, see photos for placement (fig 23, 24).

- Embroider the eyelash and the brows for girl and the brows for boy.
Sew the flowers to head (fig 26).

- Sew the strip to ring first and then around the body (fig 27, 28 and 29).

FLOWER
Crochet 10 chs. In second chain from the hook: 3 sc in each of the remaining chains.
The flower should roll into it’s own. If not, start at the end without the tail, curl the length into
itself and work it around like a spiral (fig 32).
Use a needle to sew the curled flower at the bottom (fig 33).

COLLAR (girl)
●Note: the amount of chains for the collar may vary depending on the yarn and width of sewn
head to ring. (I only needed 24 chains when I made my bear toy).
Round 1: crochet 24 chains
Round 2: in the second chain from the hook, 23 sc.
Round 3: turn your working: 2 starting chains (the 1st dc of the round will be 2chs) + 1 ch+ 1 dc
in first stitch, 1 dc in next stitch, repeat it 12 times.
Round 4: turn your crocheting, 5 dc in chain of previous round, 1 sc in dc, repeat it 12 times.
You should have 12 shell stitches.

COLLAR (boy)
●Note: the amount of chains for the collar may vary depending on the yarn and width of sewn
head to ring. (I only needed 23 chains when I made my bear toy).
Round 1: crochet 23 chains.
Round 2: turn your working: 2 starting chains (the 1st dc of the round will be 2chs), 1 dc in the
same chain, 1 inc dc in next 10 chains, 1 sc, 1 inc dc in next 11 chains (fig 38)
Round 3: turn your working: 2 starting chains, 1 front post dc in next 21 dc, 2 chs, 1 sl st in 1 sc,
2 chs (fig 39), 1 front post dc in next 21 dc and 2 chs (fig 40).

- Yarn over (fig 1, 3) and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and
second double crochet (dc) of the previous round (fig 2, 4), and then from back to front again
between the posts of the second and third stitches.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitches (fig 5). You should have 3 loops.
- Yan over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.
Insert your hook in the front loops (a) and then (b) (fig 1), go in the front loop (a) and in (b) (fig 2, 3).
Yarn over and pull through the front loops (a) and (b) (fig 4). Yarn over and pull through the 2 remaining
loops (fig 5).
