MID RANGE THEORY VERSUS GRAND THEORY

After reading all the content provided by you Professor, I come to the decision that mid range
theories are more desirable and suitable for the nursing future. The centre of attention on
improved patient outcome and patient satisfaction will be the future development in nursing
theory and mid range theories lend to this development. These theories can often describe,
predict, or explain certain phenomenon in clinical practice.

Grand theories are multiplex and broad in scope. They present a conceptual framework for
recognize the key basis and idea for nursing practice. Despite the fact that they are known to
give instincts helpful for practice, they cannot be utilized for empirical testing. On the other
hand, mid range theories are focused on phenomenon or concept. Their propositions and
concepts are more explicit to the nursing practice and they can be used for empirical testing.

Mid range theories are less abstract, but are more easily connect to practice. Their concepts are
all the more effectively operationalized they take into consideration theory testing. A mid range
theory that holds progressed nursing practices are the theory of optimal client system stability.
This theory is useful because interventions by the modern practice nurse are linked to patient
outcomes. It advisers to nurse to consideration when settling on clinical choice.

A mid range theories are giving more significance to facts. They are understandable because
there is no use of intellectual words that is outside the ability to comprehend of others.
