Subject: Proposal to do a research paper on the Gender differences in Opinions on
whether demands for equal pay for women are justified .

Introduction
Gender discrimination may have been one of the most debated topics in
Bangladesh. With a male dominated society, currently it’s facing a problem with
giving equal privileges to women that the men enjoy. Intellectuals are concerned on
how to solve this social issue. With growing “Women Empowering” movements
around Bangladesh, the very popular issue to this context that the world is facing
today is the issue of “Equal Pay”.
However, the countries think tankers are trying to establish the law of equal pay,
but many still find the idea unpleasing and justifies the discrimination in pay. I want
to find out about the differences in point of view in genders regarding the issue, if
they hold a positive or negative point of view towards the subject of equal pay for
women. I think there may be differences in point of views as per categories like:
gender, age, education, family values or cultures, class or religion.

Research Questions:
In this research I plan to investigate the gender differences in opinions regarding
the topic that whether demands for equal pay for women are justified. Following are
the research questions.

• What is the gender pay gap and how is it measured in the BD?
• What are the causes of the gender pay gap?
• What do people of BD think about the gender pay gap?
• How can closing the gender pay gap help the economy?
• Why is it important to correct pay equity gaps?
Hypothesis:
The inequality in paying women is undoubtedly dominant in our modern society.
however, there are a gob of group and organizations working relentlessly for the past
decades in hope to bring justice to women by assuring equal rights for them. This has
changed the mentality of a class of persons. With a growth in the education rate and
increased awareness about gender equality, modern generation are much more open
to adaption of the concept of equality in pay and rights.
I expect the results of my primary research to be biased in case of some particular
men and all type of women, as some men do not feel comfortable to express their
point of view regarding this particular issue as they think a negative comment would
label them as chauvinist. On the other hand, women are likely to support the cause
without hesitation or taking any other facts under consideration. However, I expect it
to be opposite in case of who are reasonable and are actually aware about the
society.

Research Methodology:
I plan to conduct the survey on based on three key factors. First, I will survey a
sample of working men and women. This sample will include young girls and boys
and adult men and women from the age range of 18-40. In order to make the survey
related to the research purposes, I will create a screening question that does not
allow those without a job to participate in the survey.
Secondly, I look forward to survey at least 30 respondents to obtain accurate results.
In order to obtain these responses, I have planned to reach the target people in
person and get a clear point of view about their thought on the given issue.
Thirdly, I look forward to gather information from organizations that are currently
working or have worked for the right of equal pay for women and from websites with
relevant information.

Organization:
I want to keep my structure simple to make it easy to understand. I look forward to
focus on my topic explicitly and build a structure with proper introduction and
detailed information and statistics to help the reader to have a clear understanding
with facts and evidences supported by the survey questions and hypothesis.

Timetable:
I look forward to complete my research by the first week of January 2021 which will
include both of my primary and secondary research. Hopefully I will be able to
completely prepare my research paper by the second week of January 2021 and
submit the complete work by the end of these semester.

world countries, all are concerned on how to solve this social issue. With growing
“Women Empowering” movements around the globe, the very popular issue to this
context that the world is facing today is the issue of “Equal Pay”.
However, there are many countries whose authorities have established the law of
equal pay, many still find the idea unpleasing and justifies the discrimination in pay. I
want to find out about the differences in point of view in genders regarding the issue,
if they hold a positive or negative point of view towards the subject of equal pay for
women. I think there may be differences in point of views as per categories like:
gender, age, education, family values or cultures, class or religion.
Survey Questions:
In this research I plan to investigate as if gender is the only factor that effects the
opinion on whether demands for equal pay for women are justified or if there are
other differing factors. Following are the research questions.

• Do women deserve an equal pay?


• Do you justify equal pay for Women?
• What are the factors that results inequality in pay?
• Are women unskilled compared to men?
• Is the work productivity same for men and women?
• Is it possible to establish the idea of Equal Pay in a male dominated society?
