(The saintly Tamil post who authored “THIRUKKURAL", ‘a universal literary work on morals and duties). In keeping with the above words, my father Pandit Sethuraman wrote the book “Science of Fortune” in Tamil in 1954. It earned him worldwide fame. He was recognised as the “Father of Modern Numerology” end his work is the testimony to his greatness even to-day. “The Science of Numerology is as old as human civilization. But only a few people like the Chaldeans, Pythogoras and Cheiro developed some interest in this scionce. Numerous books were writien by these people by just reproducing ‘the details which had been inscribed {ithe pyramids and mentioned in the works by early intellectuals on the subject. No research was done on ihe subject by the early masters and books were written based on the astrological statements and convictions. It was done only by my father, Pandit Sethuraman who Science of Fortune adopted this solence as his profession and wrote this book using his profound knowledge. Earlier, no special significance was attached by people to those born on different dates under the same number (planet), but all were treated alike. Itwas the same with the various Name numbers falling under the influence of a particular number. Both were incorrect. Only Pandit Sethuraman made a thorough study of numbers, by doing extensive research on the subject for 12 years and finally arrived at the following facts: a) Each date having two digits is the combination of {wo planets and so the characteristic features will be different and cannot be attributed fully to the planet in question (as found in Cheiro’s Book of numbers); b) Similarly various Name Numbers under one planet cannot be considered as equal, but it would be the result of combined effects of two planets occupying a particular Zodiacal sign; Preface 6) Name number compatible to a particular date of bith and destiny number should be chosen in such a way that the interrelationship between the concerned planets is cordial to bestow all-round improvernents in Mite; g) Probleme can be solved by those two digit numbers, even if their combined effect produces adverse of favourable results; ©) Every part of the body is ruled by a Zodiacal sign and every disease is caused by a planet. Keeping these igit number (combination of two facts in view, a two- numbers - planets) can counteract the influence of the Zodiacal sign and the disease-causing planet and cure a particular disease; ) Certain astrological rules do not hold good in the study of numerology. The above seoréts were not known to earlier authors and masters. Itwas only Pandit Sethuraman, a pioneer in this field, who wrote a comprehensive book Science of Fortune on Numerology in Tamil in 1984, covering each and every aspect of study similar to those prevalent in astrology. Therefore, it is appropriate and correct to say that he is the Father of Modern Numerology and this ‘Science of Fortune’ is his brainchild. | always wondered at the knowledge which my father possessed. | am told that from his very childhood, he had a probing nature and an analytical mind. His method of viewing any subject would not only be fascinating but also different as compared to that of others. Inquisitive as he was, young Sethuraman white in the fifth standard at school, perplexed his History teacher by posing 2 quizzical question, He showed his teacher a halt-anna coin (of the British Raj) and asked why the King’s hoad stamped on it did not have a crown! The intelligent question of the student actually infuriated the teacher, since the latter did not know the answer. So, the boy was asked to stand outside the classroom as a Punishment for his “audacity". The Head Master who was passing by, noticed the plight of young Sethu. After enquiring into the incident, the Head Master realised that Preface he too did not know the answer to the simple but prodigious question. He gave some sweetmeais to the boy and advised him notto ask “embarrassing” questions in the classroom which were “off the syllabus”, It took four years for Sethuraman to learn the reason as to why, the King’s head on the coin did not have a crawn! No Wonder that young Sethuraman transformed into a "Pandit”. It was his unquenchable spirit of inquiry and ability to analyse the why, what and how of any difficult subject, that made him stand out, My father was a lover of music and otherfine arts. He himself was well-versed in music. Many scholars of South Indian classical music owe their fame and success to him, as they were amply benefited by my father's numerological counselling. So vast was his knowledge about gems and precious stones that many loading gom merchants frequently consulted him on the quality and price of their products. “Science of Fortune"is only the result of my father's deep study and research into the mysterious but ‘astounding role the numbers play in our lives.
