1 – Introduction

Introduction
The BT Lifter with scale is based on the BT Lifter hand pallet truck. It is
designed to last for many years of use in industrial applications.
Ideal applications can be found where weighing is currently achieved
using a floor scale.
• Using the BT Lifter with scale, weighing and
transporting can be done in a single action,
saving time and manpower.
Alternatively if weighing has not been done.
• Material flows can be controlled by weight,
preventing errors and raising efficiency in
logistic processes.

Sales Guide – BT Lifter with scale 1–1

1 – Introduction

Market segments/applications
BT Lifter with scale can be found in the following settings:

In shipping
• To determine the exact transport weight.
• To avoid overloading lorries.

At incoming goods
• To check deliveries by weight or number.

In order picking
• To avoid errors by checking weight.

In production
• For dosing and mixing according to recipes.

2 – Product description

Product description
The chassis of the BT Lifter has four load cells (two
on each fork). The upper fork shoe is bolted onto
these four load cells.

Load cell
A load cell consists of a rectan-
gular steel housing in which a
copper wire has been installed.
A tiny electrical current flows
through this wire.
When a load is lifted on the forks, the load cell is deformed slightly (about
1/100 mm). This causes a change in resistivity in the copper wire, which
is measured and interpreted in terms of weight by the scale electronics.

2 – Product description

The electronics
The electronics are capable of measuring the load
on the pallet truck with a maximum error of 0.1%
of the applied load.
All components have been developed for mobile
use. Compact and highly resistant against shocks
and vibrations.
IP 65 protection class against dust and water.

2 – Product description

The indicator
Since the possible error on the scale
is smaller when the load is light, lighter
loads can be shown in smaller steps on
the scale display. This is called multi-
range graduation:
Multi-range graduation:
0.2 kg up to 200 kg load
0.5 kg up to 500 kg load
1.0 kg up to 2000 kg load

Legal for trade

A ’legal for trade’ version of the BT Lifter with scale is required if the
scale is used in commercial transactions. A legal for trade pallet truck
scale must be verified periodically by a certified body.
Legal for trade version in CEE countries: OIML III
Meaning: Small, verifiable error margins, level switch that prevents weight
display when the scale is more than 2° out of horizontal position, certifi-
cation by scale manufacturer RAVAS (certified producer). The legal for
trade certificate is supplied with the pallet truck scale.

Features and benefits

Functionality
• High accuracy:
– scale accuracy 0.1% of the applied weight.
– 4 load cells on the 4 corners of the forks.
• Accuracy of e.g. +/- 50 gram at 50 kg load.
• The measured weight does not change even if the load is moved to
different positions on the forks.
• The indicated weight will not change even if the load is left on the
forks for some time.

3 – Technical information

Battery module
12 V / 1,2 Ah exchangeable battery module (USP!).
This means that it is not necessary to connect the
complete pallet truck to the charger, allowing the
truck to be used. This also prevents damaged to
the charger cables (pulling the truck when con-
nected to the charger).
Spare battery modules are available for continu-
ous use of the pallet truck scale (can be purcha-
sed as a sparepart).
A fully charged battery provides 35 hours of conti-
nuous use.
The auto shut-off function automatically switches off the electronics after
30 minutes of non-use.
