The origin of Palestinian and Israeli war can be traced back to ancient times but still, the concrete

origin
cannot be distinguished. Some may conclude that the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 and
intercommunal violence in mandatory Palestine between Israelis and Arabs from 1920 which later
erupted into full scale hostilities in the 1947-48 civil war was the trigger. However, there are still many
controversial theories that say otherwise. In my opinion, the Arab- Israeli war of 1948 which occurred
when five Arab nations invaded territory in the former Palestinian mandate immediately following
independence of the state of Israel on May 4 th, 1948 may have been the root cause of present waging
war.

Whatever the origin may be, the war has caused casualties to both Israelis and Palestinians. This
situation with regard to evictions of Palestinian families in Jerusalem is matter of serious concern. Such
actions in our view are illegal under international humanitarian law. The European Commission also
condemned the act of violence and expressed concern on the possible evictions. The war between these
two parties has resulted in anything but violence, hatred and misery of public citizens. Violence against
violence doesn’t result in peace. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “An eye for an eye makes the whole world
blind.” The result for violence against violence is evidently displayed by the results of this raging war. In
truth, the morality of men shouldn’t have allowed such incidents to occur but reality speaks different.
Their violence, according to them have justified reasons which they claim to be self-defense, serving the
common interest and others equally deluded reasons.

There were many politicians the past who tried to make peace with each other like Palestinian leader
“Yitzhak Rabin”, who later was assassinated in cold blood by extremist Jews. These extremists who claim
to be working towards greater good have overpowered the moral code oof conduct and human ethics
which have led to suffering of many. As long as these extremists are true to their beliefs, peace among
the two parties is uncertain.

We believe that a country is not its government. However, in this case the true sense of blame cannot
be delegated to a single party. If we were to accuse any of the country and lay the blame solely on their
feet this will create even more hate and violence in turn. In our opinion, which may or may not be truth,
the Palestinians who live below the poverty line should not be subjected to further suffering and this
war should be brought to halt as soon as possible. The Israeli- Palestinian peace process put forward in
attempt to solve the conflict may become the saving bacon for the suffering public. On 1 st December
2003, the parties signed an unofficial suggested plan for peace in Geneva, which is a plan to solve all the
issues at stake. This is also a means for peaceful settlement of dispute.

In our opinion, both parties should conclude an agreement based on common economic development
and effort, rather than continuous struggling over land. Both suffered parties should state their support.
This may be the peace valley plan which promotes economic co- operation and new business initiatives
which can help both sides work together and creates a better diplomatic situation and better economic
condition.

Furthermore, we believe that the Elon peace plan is a solution for the Arab- Israeli conflict. This plan
advocates the formal annexation of west-bank and Gaza by Israel and that Palestinians will become
other Jordanian citizens of permanent residents in Israel as long as they remain peaceful and law-
abiding residents. All these actions should be done in agreement with Jordan and Palestinian population.
This solution is tied to demographics of Jordan where it’s claimed that Jordan is essentially already the
Palestinian state, as it has many Palestinian refugees and descendants.
