Chinese netizens questioned why the flu death rate in China is much lower than that in the US given the overall coverage of flu
vaccines in China is less than 2 percent, far lower than the rate of developed countries, including the US. Some doubted the
effectiveness of the vaccines.

"The US flu mortality rate includes cases where flu causes other illnesses to worsen and lead to death, while China only counts
people who die directly from flu," an observer who prefers to be anonymous told the Global Times.

The statistical methods used by the Chinese CDC should be revised, as deaths from pneumonia caused by the flu, for
example, are not counted, the observer said.

Observers called for an improved statistical approach, and encouraged the public to get an annual flu shot.

An analysis led by Chinese scientists published in The Lancet Public Health in September 2019 found that there were 84,200 to
92,000 flu-related deaths in China each year, accounting for 8.2 percent of all deaths from respiratory diseases.

Chinese looks at root cause and treats it rather than treating symptoms which is practiced by the West.

Chinese values life and is taken care of by the states whereas Democratic countries like US only cares
about $$$ - as mentioned by Sari.

The so-called Vaccines are just money making machines for big western Pharma - its a scam.

Even with this numbers, it would only be on par with the US where close to 80K died of Influenza in 2018.
Considering that the US population is about 30% of China and has better medical facilities. US big pharma
has a field day
.Interesting!!

Yeah, but China has public medical care and social insurance, so population can easily access health
care without big financial restrictions. This is not USA reality.

..... the Chinese are more conscious of spreading illness. I can't tell you how many times as a
Lyft driver I've had to talk sick people out of going to work AT A RESTAURANT nonetheless.

There Chinese wear masks and gloves. They are conscious of what they touch. We Americans
are not only clueless, but completely careless when it comes to containment.

Contrary to popular misperception and propaganda, the Chinese in China is actually
more hygiene conscious than many countries including Singapore (though many here
refused to admit).

Most of their restaurants will use hot water to clean the cutleries in front of you almost
everywhere. Having travelled widely I don't see this practice anywhere else.
