1 cup firmly packed brown sugar ½ cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ teaspoon salt (optional) 3 cups uncooked quick or old fashioned Quaker oats 1 cup raisins
Cream together shortening and sugars
Add eggs and vanilla; mix well Add combined flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon, and salt Stir in oats and raisins; mix well
Put ¼-cup portions on ungreased baking sheet; press somewhat
flat Bake 350 F. 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown and not puffy Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet before removing.
