WRITING:
TASK 1:
The line charts demonstrate the patterns in the number of homes with
electrical devices namely: automatic washer, hoover, fridge and the amount of time
used on housework each week in a givien country during 1920 to 2019.
As it can be seen from the first graph, there is an upward trend in using
these three appliances throughout the period. It is immediately obvious that 100%
residents in this country have refrigerators in 1980 and this figure remained till
2019, while the total time spent on doing household chores declined dramatically
in the last eighty years.
It is clearly evident that fridges witnessed a significant increase during
the period, from 0% in 1920 to 100% in 2000 and lasted for 19 years later.
Similarly, vacuum sweepers also rose steadily from 30% to 100% in that eighty
years. In contrast, proportions for washing machines began at 40%, climbed to
70% by 1960, then fell slightly, and recovered in the end of the period at over
70%.
TASK 2:
In many parts of the world, the historical background of living places
starts to attract more residents' curiosity. While there are various reasons for
this phenomenon, there are also several ways for people to figure this out.
There are two primary reasons why people tend to know more about the
history of their houses. The first reason is their traditional belief and custom.
It is believed that some architectures can bring the owner wealthy while
others will cause several unintended incidents such as: accidents, fires and
ghosts, so by learning about their houses’ historical background they can
avoid bad luck. In addition, this also relates to the owner’s hobby. For
instance, the wall designs and the interior of the houses can also change a lot
since the past; hence, many history lovers want to know paintings and
patterns of those houses in the past by finding out their history.
Nowadays, there are a number of ways for residents to achieve their
goals. First of all, people can search for it on the internet. As the internet
develops rapidly these days, it will be quite easy to find out your answer.
Furthermore, people can also find information by asking their neighbours.
They have been living for a long time near to your area, so they might know
clearly about the past of your houses.
In short, knowing about the historical background of living places can
help the residents to feel more comfortable when living there. There are also
several ways for the owners to satisfy their curiosity of their houses’ history.
