Material Selection

The Material is an important part of Purchase. To select the Material navigate to the Material Column and press F4.

The below screen comes up with several tabs:

To search for Materials there are several options, one of them is by Description. For example the indentor has to search for Gear Box or
Hardwood then he can input the same in the Description field or use wildcards i.e. ‘*’ to widen the search. To search for Wood the indentor can
input the specific material or use wildcards (‘*wood*’). Refer the screenshot below:
Thus all the materials whose description contains the word “Wood” will come up as a list for selection. Refer the screen shot below:

The Indentor is requested to check whether the Material desired by him is extended to the Plant where the Project comes under since the
system will give an error regarding extension of the same.
Another way of searching material is by Material Class since the Material Masters has been designed on basis of Classes & Characteristics. To
elaborate take an example of Cement which is classified on the Cement Type i.e. OPC, PPC, etc and Cables are classified on the basis of Cable
Type, Cable Size, MOC & Tension.

When an indentor will search by classes the indentor will first select the Material for Class Tab. Refer screenshot below:

The following screen comes up :

Here press F4 key or simply enter the Material Class if known to proceed. In this example I have chosen Cables (Class = Z_Cables).

On pressing Enter Key the system asks for the Characteristics to be entered as defined in the system (Refer screenshot below). Enter the values
here for filtering the material as per the Characteristics.

The Characteristic Values are to be entered here and the relevant Material Code will be displayed after pressing the ‘Find in Initial Class’ Button
(Screenshot Below) or Press F8.
In the above screenshot the characteristics were left blank to call all the Materials created in the system. If the Values were put in then the
respective Materials having the said Values would have been displayed. Now the desired Material can be selected (Select the Material Code
from Object Column).

The Material Code will now be taken to Material Column. Also when the user presses enter then the data will be picked from Material Master
which has been maintained.
