Nuclear Power

We all know that there are many different types of energy sources out
there. Some which include coal, natural gas, wind, biomass, hydropower, nuclear
power, renewable power, solar power, geothermal energy, electricity, tidal power,
thermal energy, wave power, geothermal- power, petroleum, and oil. Also a quick
review about renewable energy and nonrenewable energy. Nonrenewable
includes coal, gas, and oil, they are made to burn fossil fuels to create energy.
Renewable includes solar, hydro, and wind energy. According to “Renewable
energy: The clean facts’’ renewable energy is often considered clean energy, it
comes from natural sources or processes that are constantly replenished. Today
I'm going to focus on nuclear power.

Nuclear power is electric or motive power generated by a nuclear reactor.

We use nuclear power in our everyday life like electricity generation, medicine,
industry, and agriculture. According to ‘’EDN’’ the reactor generated the first
electricity from nuclear power on December 20, 1951. Enrico Fermi led a group of
scientists in initiating the first self- sustaining nuclear chain reaction. Nuclear
power is now used by production medical and industrial isotopes, as well for
training. The first commercial nuclear power stations started operation in the
1950s, nuclear power now provides about 10% of the world’s electricity from about
440 power reactors, and nuclear power is the world’s second largest source of
low-carbon power (29% of the total in 2018).

The advantages of nuclear power is that it is one of the most low-carbon

energy sources, it also has one of the smallest carbon footprints, it's one of the
answers to the energy gap, it is essential to our response to climate change and
greenhouse gas emissions, and reliable and cost-effective. The benefits of
nuclear power is, low-cost energy, reliable, zero-carbon emissions, promising
future energy supply, high energy density, environmental impact, water intensive,
risk of nuclear accidents. One fact about nuclear power is that it is not
considered as renewable energy, it's mostly a non-renewable energy source. Once
again the benefits for nuclear power is low-cost energy, reliable, zero-carbon
emissions, promising future energy supply, high energy density, environmental
impact, water intensive, risk of nuclear accidents, and the cite that I used to get
this part of information is national geographic.

The disadvantages of nuclear power are large-scale accidents can be

catastrophic and Public perception of nuclear power is negative. Nuclear power
produces radioactive waste. On ‘’Bite size’’ it says that another fact about it’s
disadvantages is that it can not react quickly to changes in electricity demand.
My essay was all about nuclear power. Most of its information was about
nuclear energy. So everything was about how do we use nuclear power everyday,
what are the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power, and the benefits.
We can help the environment by reducing, reuse, and recycle, volunteer, save
water, shopping wisely, using long-lasting light bulbs, and planting a tree can
help too. Another thing is that we have to be careful about nuclear power
because it produces radioactive waste and some of it’s materials can be
dangerous for our health for a long time.
