Debate: Unkindest exploitation by Medical Service

provider’s during Health emergency in second wave of

Corona Pandemic. I would like to present my arguments
against Medical Service intermediaries who exploited
humanity at cost of innocent lives of the people. – By

From Private hospitals to drug sellers many

medical service providers in violation of
government regulations are trying to make a
fast buck at the expense of covid patients
battling for their life and in the process are
pushing their families in deep financial crises.

The second wave of Covid 19 has pushed

several families to sell their immovable
properties or to raise loans that will take years
to pay.
Case : .MR. Debashish Roy a resident of
Calcutta has suffered for his life savings to
hospitals and greedy suppliers of medicines
and medical oxygen which are essential for
survival of patients. He had to pay ₹ 2.5 lakhs
upfront before admission into a private
hospital .His entire family got infected but
they recovered at home while he needed
oxygen support and remedesivir. Even
though,he had insurance with cashless
facility he had to pay because the black
marketing of remedesivir injection were on
peak then and the amount he had to spent
was equal to 1/3rd of hospitals total Bill. This
was the case with many who got admitted to
private hospital says Debashish – a 30year
old IT professional. --- Sources : The Hindu

1) In some cases people were forced by
circumstances to go for crowd funding
portals to collect money for the treatment
of their kin as they were left with no other
option.

2) A person with mild symptoms under

home isolation will have to spend ₹
5000 or less while treatment in a private
hospital charging ₹3 to 5 lakhs that to
patients have to bring oxygen cylinders by
themselves.

3) Though government squads are booking

cases against hospitals for overcharging
patients many continued to violate rules
and continued to loot patients.

4) What happens when patients cannot

access to smaller hospitals and are forced
the bigger one’s. The government’s in the

3
country have terribly failed in awaking
faith of people in government hospitals.
The middle class in India have a peculiar
problem that they don’t want to go to
government hospitals even though the
same facilities are availed at the lower
cost or even free when compared to
Private hospitals. Because of the common
notion that government hospitals doesn’t
care patients effectively and are not
organised in proper way. It’s fundamental
responsibility of governments to not only
curb the terror of Medical Mafia's but also
to build reliability of Government
Hospitals.

5) Even though, person admitted for non-
covid care are being billed the cost of
personal protective equipments by
Private hospitals. This has pushed the
hospitalization cost of the patients with
their insurance cover getting exhausted
quickly.

Conclusion: The Pandemic time with Health

emergency globally is the time to save lives of
the human and show humanity not to make
huge profits at cost of humanity.
