1. What are pros and cons? How is writing the pros and cons of a particular motion helpful in
writing an argumentative essay?

Pros and Cons

The body of your paper should clearly outline the pros and cons of a particular issue. Devote at
least one paragraph to each argument. You might, for example, dedicate a paragraph each to
arguments in favor of the death penalty such as vengeance and deterrence, and a paragraph each
to arguments against it such as executing the wrong person. Be charitable to each side, fairly
summarizing the strongest points of an argument, even if you don't agree with it.
2. Describe the process of writing an argumentative essay.

State that there is an opposition view and the main points you plan to dispute. Give your thesis
and an essay map outlining the main points in support of your thesis. Write your conclusion.
Make sure you restate the main premise, present one or two arguments which summarize your
main points.

his or her paper?

Assumptions are things that are accepted as true, or at least plausible, by researchers and peers
who will read your dissertation or thesis. One of the more common assumptions made in survey
research is the assumption of honesty and truthful responses.

2. What makes a good report?

A good report is written in a simple language avoiding vague and unclear words. The language
of the report should not be influenced by the writer's emotion or goal. The message of a good
report should be self-explanatory. A good report should be concise but it does not mean that a
report can never be long.
