Child 440: Program Administration
Mr. Trevor Rowe
January 20, 2021
Mission Statement
I will be delicate and thoughtful with each child’s needs, emotions, and their vulnerability in and
outside my workplace.
Philosophy Statement
Belief Statement 1: In regards to working with children, values I hold close to my heart and will
adhere to are respecting, being present, and building meaningful relationships. Something that
has always stuck with me in my work is if I ask a student their favorite animal, I need to
remember that animal from then on. I may not know what they’re going through, but I do want
them to know they are valued and loved by me.
Belief Statement 2: I believe children learn best through play and hands on experience. It goes
back to how children begin to doing basic things like walking and eating. They see us walking or
eating, so they want to follow suit and learn for themselves. Parents or guardians are hopefully
there to help, and I want to be there for children in the same way but in class.
Belief Statement 3: My work will include every developmental area, so children are receiving a
well-rounded experience. The activities/lessons will be developmentally appropriate, but some
examples could be understanding colors with cognitive development. A couple other examples
could be our outdoor play involving gross motor skills, and snack area involving fine motor
skills. I will also include social and emotional development, as well as speech and language. I
will strive to build cooperation and understanding with our activities/lessons.
Goal 2: I hope to bring the students’ thoughts and ideas into the classroom.
Objective 1: I will ask children what they want to learn about and if I feel it’s
appropriate, I will implement it into the classroom.
Objective 2: I will display their understandings around the classroom when it’s
appropriate.
