CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

SUMMARY

Designing the structure using design analysis is a more accurate way of

determining the loads and designing the structure that can withstand through time and the

design is considered more economical in the cost.

Strength, stability, and Serviceability of the structure can be mainly determined

using the structural analysis. Structural design, on the other hand, is the selection of the

quality and quantity of materials that will be used in the structure base on the result of the

structural analysis.

Generally, this project study intends to create plans and design a One-Storey

Evacuation Center located at Brgy. Libas, Roxas City, Capiz. Specifically, this study

seeks to (1) prepare working plans of One-storey Evacuation Center. (2) Design the

structure using NSCP 2015. (3) Estimate total cost of the project and (4) Prepare program

of works of the project.

The structural analysis used in this study to determine the loads that the structure

will carry through time was a conventional moment distribution method specifically. The

structural design analysis used in this study when designing the reinforced beams, tie

beams, columns and column footing is the ultimate strength design while for purlins and

truss members, it is the working stress design.

The site location of the proposed project is located at Brgy. Libas, Roxas City,

81
Capiz. The duration of the project is 165 days with a total construction cost of

₱28,774,171.20. This due to the project’s bill of materials with 40% labor cost every

construction activity.

CONCLUSIONS

Construction of One-Storey Evacuation Center should be safe and it should

economical. This project study shows detailed working plans and structural load analysis

and design of the One-Storey Evacuation Center. In the extent of the study, the

researchers arrived at the following conclusions.

Structural analysis and design of the structure have an important role in ensuring

the structures capacity, serviceability, and stability. The thing to do is to analyze load of

the structure in compliance in the national structural code of the Philippines. The loads

were used to compute the distribution of forces including axial and shear force as well as

the bending moments. The computed forces were used to derive the safe values used to

design the different structural member.

The researchers analyze and design carefully the structural members by using the

ultimate strength design. To identify the dimensions of the structural members and their

corresponding reinforcements, it is specifically based on the result of the analysis. The

design followed proper analysis in order to come up with an economical design

The total estimated cost of the project is ₱28,774,171.20 and has a duration of

165 days to finish the construction of the project.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the result of the analysis, design and estimates of the proposed project,

the researchers arrived at the following recommendations:

1. The government should allocate budget and assigned officials for the

realization of this project.

2. The community should collaborate and cooperate during the construction and

operation phase of the evacuation center, for the success and continued patronage of the

aforementioned structure.

3. The evacuees should utilize and maintained properly the design of the facility.

4. The engineers should design and build the structure in accordance with NSCP

2015, ACI code and USD in order to build a structure that can withstand calamities.

5. The researchers who wish to continue this proposal, the planning of necessary

plumbing, for instance, the drainage of establishments, electrical design of the

infrastructure and design of the retaining wall is recommended.

6. The workers should cooperate with the engineers and work efficiently for the

success of the proposed project.
