The world today is experiencing a drastic and massive problem that affects our well-
being as a person. Because of the pandemic virus called the Covid 19 or the Coronavirus,
many lives were at risk and went miserable. Everyone is affected in this virus especially the
health, economies and livelihood of the humans. Since most of the countries are now affected
from the spreading of the virus, the governments of their respective countries are finding
ways and those are to promulgate or implement lock down or community quarantine wherein
we are obliged to follow the health safety measures and precautions, also we are advised to
stay indoors or at home. However, everyone was worried because they can’t afford to sustain
themselves anymore because companies and business establishments are ordered to stop their
transactions and workforce.

Many people are afraid that they might die from starvation and not from the virus
itself. The poor and homeless might starve themselves to death; they are afraid and got
panicked that this may possibly happen because of this outbreak or pandemic crisis.
However, the government and other fortunate people are doing their best to help those needy
people through providing relief goods and money while some are donating and providing
surgical masks, foods, tents, testing kits and other necessities to the front liners and health
institutions. Everyone was extending their hands to the needy. But what if this pandemic
crisis would increase and quarantine is extended for more months? Can they still sustain their
people’s basic necessities any longer?

The world has more than 2 million confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide. The
United States which has more than 900,000 cases and approaching 53,000 deaths has
overtaken China, where there have been roughly 84,338 cases and 4,642 deaths. Half of all
confirmed cases are now in Europe. Low and middle income countries are just a few weeks
behind. While nations such as Senegal, Liberia and Nigeria have been shown themselves
aggressively ready to meet this challenge, their governments are constrained by a lack of
resources, healthcare and testing capacity.
It seems ironic and unbelievable that the local pandemic crisis that started in Wuhan,
China is now affecting most countries in the entire world. Some people perceive this prodigy
as the greatest equalizer of inequality. Other people might think that this outbreak somehow
perceived this situation as the greatest equalizer of inequality because many people especially
the poor and the less fortunate are mostly affected in this crisis. Good for those people who
can still sustain themselves however, how about them? They lack food, shelter and finance to
sustain their family’s needs. This situation is really difficult since we are like going to a battle
knowing our enemies are deadly virus that are not visible in our naked eye. Many are
suffering and in deep agony because of this pandemic crisis.

If everyone will immediately respond to this crisis by doing deployment ban and
suspending international flights at first, then somehow we can prevent this crisis we have
been facing. Knowing that most residents from China are infected, we must immediately put
barriers to our country for us to protect our countrymen and not get infected. We know that
being hospitable and helpful is one of our good characteristics as a Filipino however, because
of our hospitality we did not realize that we let those infected persons visit in our country and
the transmission of the virus kept spreading and affecting the lives of the Filipinos. None of
this would happen if we respond immediately and be practical. We can still help them by
donating their basic necessities such as facial masks and foods in some affected countries.
But then, since we are uplifting our hospitality, we let them visit in our country not knowing
some infected foreigners would infect or spread the virus intentionally or in purpose.

However, we cannot blame the government for this because somehow they are doing
their best for our well-being. We are just trying to help and somehow, all of us including all
other countries are experiencing this Covid 19 outbreak. All of us are suffering, no one is
exempted; therefore, instead of ranting and posting hate threads about the governments’
recklessness, failures and faults, we must pray and be obedient to follow rules and
regulations. We are not perfect citizens in our country; there is no perfect government and
country either. But if we abide the orders and laws of the president, leaders and the
government, follow the safety and health precautions, stay indoors and pray then, there is a
hope and possibility that we can rise above from this pandemic crisis. If we stop blaming the
people and government and help other people who are in need without ranting and
complaining then we can get through this.
Based on the data being gathered, there are 3 possible ways to combat this deadly
virus. First, all affected countries must close their borders for an agreed amount of time and
mount an aggressive campaign to identify carrier of the virus. Then, trace the people they
have contacted and quarantine them for up to three weeks. Third, physical distancing
measures must be enforced to prevent the spread of the virus and ease the pressure on
healthcare systems. And also wear face masks and sanitize your hands and body to avoid the
transmission of the virus.

What we really need to do right now is to not be stubborn and cooperation is a must.
If we are advised to stay indoors then we must follow. There is no need for us to complain
because they are doing this for our safety. Let us be matured enough to be mindful of our
actions and please be practical. We believe that our government will not leave us behind;
they are doing their best to help their countrymen. All we need to do is to be obedient, have
faith and trust in the process then together we shall rise and combat this Covid 19 outbreak
with the guidance of our almighty God from above.
