1. Define the following
a. Primary energy- Primary energy is energy that is obtained from nature without any human
conversion.

b. Secondary energy- is energy that is refined from the nature such as coal and
2. Describe three factors for the increase in demand for energy
 When population increases in a country, the government will have to build more power
plants to decrease the energy demand and supply gap
 When specialized goods are being produced they require more energy to produce and
maintain them thus increasing demand for energy in industries
 There is increase in demand for energy because the country in try to have energy
security thus increasing power plants and having to use for economic growth and
military uses.

3. Analyze 3 advantages of renewable resources.

 They are renewable meaning they can never run out and can be reused over and over
again. E.g geothermal
 Renewable resources do not produce any harmful waste products; thus energy is clean
e.g solar power.
 Renewable resources create much more economic development in the country due to
new jobs in manufacturing, installing and need to be maintained

4. Suggest 2 reason why some countries have energy gaps

 Countries have energy gaps due to lack of resources to produce energy such as coal or
money to buy non-renewable resources.
 HIC have more developed landscapes thus can have both renewable, nonrenewable and
reusable energy producing plants thus producing more energy for the country, while LIC
have little energy research and supplies to make energy thus countries have energy gaps
