Explain the similarities and differences between the Classical/Greek Typology and Soble's classification

of types of love.

According to the Greek, Agape love is defined as unconditional love that goes past the exterior
surface and accepts a particular recipient for their real selves despite their faults and
shortcomings. Therefore, in both cases their definition of agape love is similar. They offer love
without necessarily expecting benefits from the opposite side. This love is more of sacrificing
and offering without expecting. Another similarity comes in their explanation of Eros type of
love. According to Greek this love is defined as the romantic love. It focuses more on a personal
basis than the other person. Soble describes this love as the love that depends more on the
benefits one gets from the other. The main difference between the Greek and Soble when it
comes to Eros love is that Soble focuses more on the love for object while the Greek talks more
about it as the romantic kind of love. The love that makes you realizes that you love another
person.
