GENERAL PHYSICS I

VECTOR ADDITION

Instructions: Write your solution on a clean bondpaper. You can pass an encoded or
handwritten output, but all must be in PDF filetype. In scanning your solution/answer,
various Android or iOS applications can scan your paper using your smartphone camera.
One popular application is the CamScanner, which can also export your scanned files
into one PDF file. Make sure to write your solution legibly and neatly if you opt to pass a
handwritten output.

  
A) (20 points) Find: R  B  C
 
if B  8m,25  NofW and C  5m,75SofW
25⁰

75⁰

Your final answer must include the vector's magnitude and direction, as shown on
the given vectors above.

B) (10 points) Using your foot ruler and a protractor, solve the previous problem graphically
by means of the Tail-to-Tail Method. Do not forget to write the name of each vector and

its direction. Then write what will be your R similar to how will it be written in item A.

C) (10 points) Using the markers below,

2 cm, 30⁰ N of E to point 2

5 cm, 60⁰ S of E to point 3
C, θC N of W to point 1

Draw the shape of the figure using Head-to-Tail Method. Label the line connecting
points 1 to 2 as vector A, 2 to 3 as vector B, and point 3 to 1 as the unknown vector
C. Indicate the angles on the figure including θC. (Hint: Label your starting point as
point 1.)
