Abstract

This research shows the conditions of use of a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) by different
universities. Three approaches: the practical acceptance, the social acceptance and the situated
acceptance. Our study describes how teachers and student take the role of the VLE in the
evolution of their working style , their relationship with parents virtually and in the follow-up of
their students and teacher respectively. The concept of virtual learning in context to nepla came
in hype due the pandemic cause by covid -19. While research into the adoption of VLE in Nepal
has mainly focused on its use in public Higher Education Institutions there is still a lack of
research on factors affecting students’ use of VLE in private HEIs in Nepal. This study,
therefore, explores factors influencing the use of online learning by students in private HEIs in
Nepal . Research has been carried out into the educational and training innovations resulting from the
current implementation of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) in institutions of higher education in
order to understand how these innovations interrelate with teaching and learning; the implications at
the institutional level; and the cross-cultural diversity within virtual learning environments, with an
emphasis on those that combine face-to-face and virtual learning

Introduction

In Today’s world of rapid exchange of information and technology as well as in this pandemic situation
most universities world-wide have encouraged to start virtual or e-learning practice world-wide. Higher
education and technology have become inextricably intertwined. In order to support flexible learning
and cost efficiency many tools and web services are being adopted to achieve the objective of virtual
learning. The virtual leaning will be providing a platform to share contents, delivery, communication and
management of course content in a time frame. This will help the students to improve with their internal
skill via online learning and activities.

A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a learning system that is designed to support teaching
in an educational from remote locations. For developed countries Virtual learning environment
has already been adopted but for developing country like ours (Nepal) has to strategically
planning before bringing into functionality. This paper suggest the change in the approach of
learning and successful implementation of Virtual learning in higher education. Moreover, this
paper will be providing the need for the change to use virtual learning by different investigation
and identification. And finally we will be concluding our research for successful implementation
of VLE. VLEs has served to carry out diverse activities and are intended for several distinct user
(teachers, students, staff and parents. We present a study analyzing the acceptance of advanced
technology by teachers and the practices they developed over time.

VLE in this paper refers to computer-based learning process which links to digital content,
system-based administrations and mentoring support for learning environment and aid in the
interaction of students and . Private education institution have adopted some e-learning tools
which provide the institution and students with increased interest toward achieving higher
performance through the development of new human competencies. Education development
have become interest for institutions and people which lead to increase in life-long learning
technique. People now are updating their knowledge and skills accordingly. Although VLE is an
alternative to blended learning or conventional classroom teaching methods, it has witnessed a
rough pathfor many people
Research Objectives

The objective of this research is to investigate the impact and adoption of VLE. Main objectives
of this study was to examine how faculty has been handling disorienting dilemmas and the process that
may lead to paradigm shifts. This Participatory Action Research project examined five experienced
educators to determine what they will do in order to teach in an online environment. It included
individual prior and post interviews with face-to-face and video group conferences; in addition,
participants were required to maintain a journal and share in online discussions. Participatory Action
Research is a research technique that empowers the research subjects. Action research, unlike typical
academic research, uses the input of the study members to shape the next phase of the project at each
step. This creates a progressive problem-solving 14 model that consists of 3 cycles of research, each to
include the following steps: 1) study and plan, 2) take action, 3) collect and analyze the evidence, and 4)
reflect on the data collected (Center for Collaborative Action Research

he following chapters include: a literature review, problem statement, research questions, scope of
research, significance of research, and research methodology.

Purpose of the Research

Professional development programs to prepare faculty to teach online are needed, not only to learn the
technical aspects of teaching online, but, more importantly, to consider new and different ways of
teaching. Too many faculty professional development programs have concentrated on instrumental
knowledge, including the conversion of course material for the online environment, such as adding
audio to slideshows or uploading syllabi to a course management system used for course delivery. These
programs often overlook or only skim over the communicative knowledge needed to be successful in the
online classroom. This might include how to establish an online teaching presence, foster a rapport with
students, and create an environment where students develop relationships with each other. Preparing
to teach online also presents an opportunity to rethink assumptions and beliefs about teaching, which
may serve as a catalyst for change.

Problem Statement

While e-learning has constantly been adopted and helped in the establishment of virtual
universities in most of the western countries, only a few private universities in Nepal completely
carry out their academic activities through e-learning after the pandemic.
The majority of people find it difficult to use e-learning, while to some, it is still a dream because
of poor and weak technological infrastructure in Nepal.
How really does VLE impact the student in Higher Learning Education?
Virtual learning is known to be the enhancement of learning practices from face to face
classroom to online class which has both positive and negative impact to it to student, teacher as
well as university.
The study, therefore, explores the factors influencing the adoption of VLE by Private university
students . This is driven by the fact that higher studies facilities have invested heavily on e-
learning facilities in Nepal during current pandemic . Exploring these factors will help private
and public institution in becoming more tactical and proactive in taking decisions that will assist
students in adopting VLE regularly.

The research paper is structured as follows: First, it presents the overall research approach and
research methodology. Secondly, it reviews and analyses the literature. The last section
highlights the conclusions, discusses the implications, limitations and future research.
Literature Review
The continuous growth of online learning after the pandemic in educational institutions may
give the students as well as some teacher feelings of frustration and confusion that makes them
less satisfied toward VLE. Therefore, the benefits of the upgrade technology cannot be
transferred to the users (teachers and students) easy. The use of virtual learning environments
requires students to feel comfortable to work with different computer applications and computer
tools in order to reduce distress level. The Technology Acceptance Model consists of two
dimensions usefulness and ease of use. This has been used to measure users’ acceptance and
their adoption towards information systems.
Most of the higher education institutions are using a VLE due to current pandemic .VLE has
been offering a range of learning tools and managing the course. Modern mass higher education
learning practices presents many challenges for both students and teacher as it has brought into
larger classes, more diverse students, and higher interest in teaching quality and graduate
attributes. Many research papers has concluded that students and college in higher education
institutions around the world were positive towards the concept of VLE. They found that VLEs
was very useful and had made a significant change to the learning experience of 21st century
students.
