Lesson 1 Nature of the Teaching of Literature

1. What is my Teaching Dream?

My teaching dream is when I am in front of where the audience, students, and colleagues. I
hope I have drawn them a new learning perspective wherein they practical using my lecture to
grow as a person intellectually and share their knowledge that I partake to them. Moreover,
preparing a well-written and compelling discussion to captivate the listeners. For this reason,
gives a student enthralling content with the like performance of the teacher creates an impact on
them to tune in to the subject. However, I hope they do not evaluate me as a teacher that
focuses on form over content because of my teaching style. There is a saying of Brad Henry, "A
good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning." How can I
inspire if others do not understand me? So I create a method that goes well with my personality
leading to the student's inspiration to learn. How can I ignite the imagination? By starting it in
class through me, the teacher using visuals, timely issues, and practical styles that help them in
life. How can I instill my student to love learning? I, as a living testimony to partake with them
and ways to touch their hearts to learn.

2. Explain the following lines in relation to teaching:

To teach is to be battered

Scrutinized, and drained,

Day after day. We know this.

Still, it is never said.

To teach is to be battered on this line pertains that the field of teaching is fighting every day.
Teachers have to fight themselves to have consistent energy delivering the lesson. Teachers
require to fight the diverse idea of the students and their egos. Teachers need to fight for their
growth as an academic profession and their salary. It's inevitable. The field of teaching demands
the teacher to explore through producing costly research. Moreover, attending seminars at their
expense if not in a public school or government-affiliated.

Scrutinized and drained. The second line concatenated to the first line describes more about the
experience in teaching. Teachers need to be certified, credited and licensed to teach. For
example, in deliberately talking in front, the teachers need to inspect the content matter and
assess each opinion connected to it, the view, and interview to get the desired outcome. The
result of performing these drained the teachers' time and energy for covering the literature on
each side.

Day after day. We know this. Day after day we teach. The teacher faces the students to teach.
They meet their colleagues and bosses for help and evaluation. The teachers do their routinary
classroom settings because it affects the student learning. Furthermore, every day the teacher
thinks about the proper teaching style to deliver the lesson.

Still, it is never said. The fourth line retells that even we know the hardship and experience the
struggle to teach. We do not open the topic. In my opinion, we over glorify the resiliency of being
a teacher. Like, because of this scenario, teachers make something that adapts to their
environment. Then the government applauds them for their resiliency. When it is clear that the
government can help the teachers' and students' situation to improve.
3. What are the seven (7) types of teaching anxiety? Briefly explain these types of
teaching anxieties.

Lack of training

The aspiring educators not prepared by the University leads to poor performance in a
classroom setting. It takes time for the teacher to adjust to the classroom setting, faculty, and
routines to be an effective educator. Classroom Setting establishing relationship to the student,
it is hard for a teacher to communicate to the student if he/she does not experience nor
capability to introduce himself/herself, house rules in the classrooms, and class routine.

Isolation

Teacher teaching in the classroom, it’s like a quarantine. The teacher taught the students
then the students listen and vice-versa, routinary. Methods, strategies, and styles of the teacher
not seen in the public except in the four corners of the classroom. It is really isolated. However,
the teacher may share his/her teaching in public if he/she has a conference or seminar which
opens a dispense of information related to teaching. But that does not change the fact of the
seclusion in the classroom while we teach.

Teaching versus research

In order to have a good credential, the teacher expected to produce research because
research steps up the teacher’s ranking. These two opposed due to the fact that research
consumes more time than teaching. The outcome is that the research will be the main focus of
the teacher or teaching, vice-versa depends on the teacher’s outlook.

Coverage

Through times the methods, strategies, and styles change together with the
technological advancement in society. This makes the student think advance and somehow
knowledgeable. The teacher is in needs to adapt in order to deliver the lesson properly, variety
of activities and approaches to the students. In preparation for the adjustment of the teacher, it
will need materials like readings about literature, theories, and attend seminars.

Performance

Teachers dealing with people is a common occurrence of a teacher. A new teacher in

teaching is usually frightened in front of the class. Talking in front for an hour lecturing about
literature and grammar after that thinking about the performance if the class really understood
the teacher’s lesson or the teacher worries due to lack in references and activities.

Grading

After all the quizzes, exams, activities, and recitation here comes the grade. Receiving
grades can be good or bad. Good in the sense that you did your performance the best that you
can, you acknowledge the work that has been done, and continues to look forward to further
learners. On the other hand, bad that there is discrimination that if you get lower grades or
ratings they will brand you as inferior. The stigma of the professor between the best and good
marks leaves a huge different view on both the student’s academic performance and
achievements.

Evaluation

Revenge! That’s what jokingly shouting at the student’s minds when it’s the teacher’s
evaluation. It’s said in the Teaching Anxiety by Elaine points out that evaluation is merely a
popularity contest it is why some teachers disregard the evaluation. The students have different
styles in terms of learning, also, the teacher has different teaching styles. It may not work for
student A but it works for Student B. Reading the student’s evaluation makes the teacher adjust
and further grow in his/her teaching career. Moreover, expand teacher’s knowledge concerning
the student’s growth.
