Course Objectives
Students understanding will be enhanced by:-
 Exploration towards the integration of the physical and logical worlds
 Exposure in understanding how IoT devices are designed & developed
 Understand the concepts and applications of Internet of Things
 Building blocks of Internet of Things and characteristics
 Realize the revolution of Internet in Mobile Devices, Cloud & Sensor Networks
Course Outcomes
After completing this course, the student will be able to:-
 Understand general concepts of Internet of Things (IoT) (Understand)
 Recognize various devices, sensors and applications (Knowledge)
 Apply design concept to IoT applications (Apply)
 Evaluate design issues in IoT applications (Evaluate)
 Create IoT solutions using sensors, actuators and Devices (Create)
 Implement basic IoT applications on Arduino Platform(Create)

UNIT I
Introduction & Concepts: Introduction to Internet of Things (IoT), Physical Design of IoT,
Logical Design of IoT, IoT Enabling Technologies, IoT Levels

UNIT II
Architecture of IoT, Taxonomy, Sensors and Actuators, Preprocessing, Communication models, Design
challenges, Development challenges, Security challenges.
Domain specific applications of IoT: Home automation, Industry applications, Surveillance
applications, Other IoT application

UNIT III
Introduction to ARDUINO: Getting Started with ARDUINO, Arduino IDE , Installation and
setup, Arduino Block and PIN diagram, Built-In Examples, Arduino Programming examples

UNIT IV
Design and Developing of Internet of Things Introduction, IoT Design Methodology.
What is an IOT Device, Exemplary Device Boards, Sensors, Introduction To Bread Board And
Resistors ,Jumper Wires (MM,MF,FF).
UNIT V
Introduction to different IoT tools: developing applications through Arduino, Developing
sensor based application through embedded system platform, Implementing IoT concepts
with C/Python in real time environment.
