CALCULATION OF DISCHARGE
1 Computation of discharge by different methods
a) Discharge from Catchment Area
By Dicken's Formula
Discharge Q = C*M^3/4
Where C = 16
The Catchment Area 'M' = 1.085 Sq. Km
Q = 17.01 Cum/Sec
b) Area velocity method
Discharge (Q) = AV
(Assumed as per Table : 5.1 of IRC: SP -13)
Nature of Surface Assumed - Widening, Some Pools and shoals, Clean, Lower Stages More
Ineffective Slope and some weeds and stony Section
AFFUX CALCULATION :
Average velocity of flow (V) = 1.396 m/sec.
Unobstructed area of flow (A) = 40.830 Sqm (Area of flow at proposed bridge location)
Obstructed area of flow (a) = 111.000 Sqm
Since the water way provided is more than the desired waterway afflux calculation is not necessary
Recommendation
Design Discharge = 58.60 m3/Sec
Design HFL = 437.810 m
Required Vertical clearance = 1.000 m
Provided Soffit Level = 438.810 m
