Topic 1: The Alphabet, Words, & Sentences Subject: Grammar


Grade: 1 Time: 1 hour
Term / School Year: Term 1/AY 2020-2021

The result of teaching:

The students were able to recite the English Alphabet. They knew how to identify vowels
and consonants.

Problems:

Some students didn’t concentrate in the class. They were seen confused between (vowels
and consonants) meaning. They didn’t review the reason why they easily forgot the lessons.
Some of them were talkative in the class.

Solutions:

Let the students sang the English Alphabets to refresh their memory.
I reprimanded the students who talked and misbehaved. Implementation of reward and
punishment were given a paramount importance.
I provided worksheets for practice. I repeated the topic before discussing the new lessons.

Topic 2: Nouns & Articles (a/an) Subject: Grammar


Grade: 1 Time: 1 hour
Term / School Year: Term 1/AY 2020-2021

The result of teaching:

The students understood the meaning and the use of Nouns & Articles. They were able to
identify different nouns-singular and plural with the use of articles.

Problems:

Some students were confused about the singular and plural form of nouns and when to use
the articles. They found it a bit hard in following the grammar patterns/rules. They
somehow lack practice about the topic. Some of them didn’t practice like answering their
workbook exercises. Lack of focus and attention span is short.

Solutions:

Simplified the grammar patterns/rules that can be easily understood.


More examples given for them to familiarize the rules of singular to plural forms with the
use of articles.
I asked them to answer their workbook for practice with my supervision. Moreover,
reinforcement of worksheets was given.
Icebreaker was done to ensure the interest of the students.

Topic 3: Regular Plural Nouns Subject: Grammar


Grade: 1 Time: 1 hour
Term / School Year: Term 1/AY 2020-2021

The result of teaching:

The students understood the meaning and rules of regular plural nouns. They were able to
recognize and identify different words that need to be changed for (- ies) and to be added
with (-s) and (-es).

The Problems:

Some of them were still a bit confused of the rules. They lack of practice and review.
Moreover, they pretend to understand and didn’t ask questions. Others were hesitant to
participate.

Solutions:

Simplified the grammar patterns/rules that can be easily understood.


More examples were practiced and encouraged students to participate in answering the
activity.
In the class, we had recitation individually and by group. Provision of worksheets and
assignments were done.

The students were able to understand and identify Statements, Questions & Imperatives.
They knew how to construct sentences.

The Problems:

They were a bit confused and easily forgot the rules. Lack of study and review were seen.
Attention span is short.
Misbehavior of some students affect their focus of the lessons.

Solutions:

Simplified the grammar patterns and rules.


Recap and quiz after the lessons. Provision of worksheets was met.
Reprimanded the students who misbehaved.
Implementation of reward and punishment.

The result of teaching:

The students understood the meaning of the Verb Be. They were able to use the rules could
make sentences using the Yes/No Questions.

The Problems:

They easily forgot the rules. A bit confused in constructing the Yes/No Questions.
Some of them talked a lot which paved way to confusion of the topic.

Solutions:

Simplified the grammar patterns and rules.


More examples were practiced to avoid confusion.
Recap and quiz of the lesson. Oral recitation, worksheets and homework were met.

The students gained knowledge and understood the meaning of Singular & Plural Nouns.
They knew the rules on how to change the base forms of the verbs when it’s singular or
plural nouns. They could make their own sentences.

The Problems:

Some of them didn’t pay much attention in the class. They easily forgot the topic. Lack of
study and review were seen. Misbehavior of some students affect their interest in the class.

Solutions:

Simplified the grammar patterns and rules.


More examples and worksheets for practice were met.
In the class, I gave punishment/demerit to those who didn’t study or do their homework.
Merit for those who worked hard on the other hand.

The result of teaching:

The students learned and understood the meaning of Verbs, Adjectives, & Nouns. They
were able to identify the differences of the three parts of speech. They could even make
sentences on their own.

The Problems:

Some of them were a bit confused of the differences of the 3 parts of speech as well as their
meaning. Misbehavior of other students affect their learnings. Some of them had short
attention span at some point. They lack focus and concentration. Some of them could not
read well which lead to confusion.

Solutions:

Discussion was done thoroughly.


Simplified the meaning of the 3 parts of speech and highlight their differences with
examples.
Provision of worksheets was done. Recap and quiz after the lesson.
Homework was given.
I gave demerit points to those who didn’t do the work.
