Understanding Multilingualism

Reaction

The best examples that I described in the Multilingualism in the Philippines are the native tribes of
B’laan and Tboli in Region 12, because they speak through their mother tongue, they can speak Ilonngo to
communicate with the dominant Ilonggo people in the city and in the plains, they also speak the
Tagalog/Filipino especially the modern and educated Tbolis and B’laans, then they excellent at speaking
English even their accent in their mother tongue is still remain while they speak with the other languages but
still the accent their English while speaking was good and nice to hear. What is the common linguistics
behaviors of a multilingual person?

Reflection

I know and learned from this chapter the types of multilingualism. I learned this chapter the various
definition of multilingualism. The word multilingualism is a combination of the prefix multi-, means “more
than one, many”, and lingua franca means “of or relating to speech or language”. The multilingual person is
someone know about two or more languages. Bilingualism is a special case of multilingualism because it was
involving two languages. I also know about the book that has more than one language is called multilingual
book. I also learned the varieties of multilingualism, types of multilingual persons, types of individual
multilingualism. I also learned the multilingualism in Philippines. Selecting the Medium of Instruction. I
differentiate the Individual and societal multilingualism. If a given a chance I will learn different languages or
becoming a multilingualism become flexible in teaching so that I can use it to my teaching as a Medium of
Instruction if I will be assigned in different environment that even my mother tongue I can’t use just like a will
assigned in far-flung areas of the IPs.
