EMER – The Last Hundred Years

5651: At the height of the horse-plague in Nuyan Khom, The High Druid of Ashenoq goes into
the wilderness to seek answers from the gods. He fasts and prays to the god To-To-Nar the two-
faced. The god hears his pleas after five days of wandering….the answer comes to him in the
form of a huge winged gryphon. She is to become the mother of a stable of winged mounts for
the elite warriors of the Nuyani people.

5704: A silvery dragon is seen near the City of Eidolon. It does no damage and vanishes into the
clouds. Some claim that it had a human rider.

5910: More than a thousand years after its first aggression against Kaitaine, Vajaar declares
sovereignty over the entire mainland of Uj west of the Daluj River. Itanis Kaitaine, and the Rhiani
are cut off from each other except by sea.

5912-13: Two successive springs fraught with severe hurricanes buffet the coast of SW Emer,
including Kaitaine and the Komaren Cluster. Great damage is done and shipping is disrupted.

5922: The Loremaster Selas Vey enters ruins in Uj known to the locals as the City of the Dead.
He is not heard from again.

5945: A man known only as the NAMELESS ONE arrives on the isle of Zinvar and predicts
impending disaster to the thriving trade center in three years time.

5948: The people of Zinvar are overcome in one night by a mysterious plague of violent
madness. The city burns, and Zinvar is deserted. Travelers shun the island and say it is cursed.

5980: The Kuluku tribe of the Quon Jungle in Khum-Kaan suddenly vanishes.

6000: The population of Sel-Kai City reaches 150,000.

6019: The Nameless One enters the Emperor’s Palace in Nuyan Khom and predicts disaster.
Later that night, someone manages to steal the Butterfly Scepter of Nuyan-Khom, a legendary
artifact.

6020-6022: Plague devastates the Silaar Region of Emer, wiping out one third of the population
of Nuyan Khom. The royal family is wiped out almost entirely.

6035: In Eastern Emer, a new leader inhabits the ancient ruins of Relas, taking the name ‘Lord of
Ardanina’.

6037: Nieve, a small town north of Arakin in Haestra passes many new laws at the urging of a
priest of Andaras.
6038: A total solar eclipse over central Emer. For the next ten nights, strange lights are seen in
the mists around the island of Votania.

6039: The Nameless One warns the priest-king of Pochanto of an impending disaster. He is
completely ignored, and a massive earthquake levels the capital city 8 days later.

6041: The Mayor of Arakin declares himself the Katra (OE “King”) of Stroane. Bruz of Nieve
controls the heavily armed city guard, so everyone is afraid to stand against him. Urged on by his
advisor (a priest of Andaras), Bruz begins his expansion campaign.

6044: The Katra of Stroane captures hold after hold in Miir. The Ruling Archbishop of Mynistra in
Helbernia refuses to yield, so Bruz lays siege to his city.

6045: Under the influence of the priesthood of Andaras, the village of Nieve becomes radically
conservative. After a sermon on the evils of non-humans, a law is passed making it a crime to be
more than 25% elven by ancestry.

6046: An elven traveler passing through Nieve is arrested for ‘being an elf’. He is tried,
convicted, and later beheaded. News of this event has wings, and many of Stroane’s trade
partners threaten a boycott. Nieve is shunned as though it had the plague, but the locals are so
caught up in religious fervor that they don’t notice.

6048: Against the objections of his advisor, the Katra of Stroane marries a country girl named
Vazia. Thirty-five days later, he is found stabbed to death and his new wife has vanished. His
ten year-old son Mikel is crowned Katra, but in name only. The True power is held by his
advisors and guardians. As news of the event spreads, the forces of Stroane begin to lose
initiative.

6049: The ‘hard winter’ in Haestra. Heavy snowfalls block roads and the River Keyten freezes
solid. Wild animals come down out of the Mountains of Gold to harass Miir and the Bodlea Dales.

6050 (winter); The Nameless One appears in the city of Kaitaine.

6050 (autumn): rebellious factions form and grow in major cities of Stroane.

6050 (Fall): Rebellious activity in Stroane increases, funded by Izar, Danarchis, and Sarnak.
Smuggling and tax evasion are rampant. The Stroane government has taken out huge loans
from the bankers of Sel-Kai to quash rebellions. The government now teeters on the brink of
bankruptcy.
6051(winter): A strange flu-like illness hits the warlocks of Itanis. All who get ill recover, but half
of them suffer a horrible side-effect: their spell powers are gone.

6051 (spring): The Ulizi Family of Sel-Kai calls in all of their loans to Stroane. The kingdom is
unable to pay, so the Ulizi family moves their troops in and declare themselves to be in charge of
the government. Three days later, the Lord General of the Stroane armies orders the arrest of all
Sel-Kai bankers and their agents. King Mikel is rumored to die in the fighting. Martial Law is
declared in Stroane, and everyone from Sel-Kai is expelled from the kingdom. Hours later, the
ruler of Sel-Kai declares the new government invalid and vows every last loan will be recovered
with interest.

6051 (summer): The new government of Stroane loses control, and the kingdom degenerates
into chaos. Most lords in the kingdom stop sending tax revenues to the central government.

6052 (winter): The Archbishop of Mynistria declares that Helbernia is once again a free city.
Bandits and highwaymen become commonplace in Stroane. In response to the growing chaos,
the Izaran league is formed by Sarnak, Izar, Barellis, and the Komaren Cluster.

6052 (spring): The High Praelector of Vajaar in Uj declares that homosexuality is an affront to the
gods, and says that the Komaren cluster is a hive of sin and evil. Vajaar and the Komaren
Cluster have a series of naval battles as Vajaar attempts to annex the islands forcibly. Caught in
the middle, Kaitaine declares its neutrality and says that forces of either side are not welcome
there until the conflict is over.

6053 (winter): Something goes horribly wrong, but nobody is sure what happened. Shortly after
midnight on New Year’s Day, a massive earthquake rocks the entire planet. Huge hurricane-
sized flow-storms wreak havoc across the planet. Thousands are killed in the days that follow.

All activities are suspended by the Navigator’s Guild for 30 days, and ships are unable to cross
the stormy seas. Meteor showers, volcanic eruptions, floods, lightning storms, and blizzards
wreak havoc all across the planet. A huge meteor strikes the city of Kaitaine dead center, erasing
it from the map.

6053(winter 35): During the chaos and confusion, the Komari launch a sneak attack on Vajaar.
Their troops infiltrate Vajaar’s harbors and sink two thirds of the royal navy at the docks. The
Komari demand the immediate cessation of hostilities against their nation, and the Pralector is
humiliated by a nation of sherki.

6053 (spring): The Present

-Storms are still common at sea, as are attacks by all kinds of bizarre sea creatures. For the rest
of the year, valuable cargos are rerouted by land.

-A dragon named Ssamis T’zang emerged from hibernation and begins to terrorize miners in the
Scorpion Ridge Mountains.
