Chapter 1
General information
About Update Update 2016.1 for OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library 10.5.0
2016.1 is a set of patches for the OpenText products Archive Server and Enterprise Library,
version 10.5.0. The Update makes it easier to download and install all relevant
patches for a specific platform. Further, the Update Installer of the patches checks
prerequisites to minimize problems during the patch installation and installs the
patches conveniently.
Cumulative All Updates are cumulative. Therefore, it is sufficient to download only the latest
patches Update.
Update Installer You can use the Update Installer 10.5.0 – 2016.1 (update_installer.ksh file) to
install the patches of OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library.
The Update Installer is provided within the Update’s ZIP file.
Patches of this Update 2016.1 includes all patches for the components mentioned in “Patches
Update included in Update 2016.1” on page 5. The table also shows whether the
corresponding patch will be installed by the Update Installer and whether the patch
can be downloaded separately from the OpenText Knowledge Center (http://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/Open/Patches).
Further For details on the patches included in the Update, see “Patch descriptions”
information on page 15.

Important
Do not continue if your system was customized to avoid using /etc/
opentext. If in doubt, contact OpenText Customer Support.
Database access
The Update Installer modifies the database schema and therefore needs access to
the database.
Note: The Update Installer can automatically perform the updates to the
Archive Server database schema required by the Update 2016.1.
Alternatively, the Update Installer creates an SQL script for a manual
database schema update.
Important
For the manual database schema update using the SQL script, make sure
that you have administrative access to the database.
“Unzip” available
Ensure that the “unzip” program is installed and available in the PATH or the
root user. To verify, run unzip in a terminal window as root. If the help is
displayed you can proceed.
Alternatively, run the profile script in <OT install AS>/bin.
Job protocols
Job protocols that existed for Archive Server will not be visible in OpenText
Administration Client after the installation of Update 2016.1 anymore.

2. Sign in as root and extract the ZIP file into an empty directory (here named
<UPDATE_ROOT>).
All files of the update are located in the subdirectory <UPDATE_ROOT>/
UPDATE_1050_2016_01/<your OS>.
3. If Apache Tomcat is used as application server, make sure that Apache Tomcat
service is not running.
Notes
• The database schema update can sometimes fail with this error message:
“column to be modified must be empty to decrease precision or scale.”
You can safely ignore this error if it is the only error in the updateDB.
log file. For more information, see this Knowledge Base article (https://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/open/60652763).
• If you do not select the automatic database schema update, you must
update the Archive Server database schema manually after the update
installation is complete. The Update Installer creates an SQL script for
the manual database schema update. The path to the update script is
shown on the summary screen at the end of the update installation.

2.2. Running the Update Installer
For each patch installation, a separate log file will be written. See the log file in
the /tmp/opentext_instlog/el_update_2016_1 directory.
7. Oracle® Solaris only: If the error message “Error: Failed installing all patches for
Enterprise Library Services” is shown on a Solaris system, see “Avoiding
installation failure on Solaris/Enterprise Library” on page 12 for a
workaround.
• If the computer hosts Archive Server and you cleared the Update Archive
Server database schema option, update the Archive Server database schema
according to the changes of the Update 2016.1 installation.
• The Update Installer has created the DSschema.sql script. The path to
the update script is shown on the summary screen at the end of the
update installation. Example:
/tmp/opentext_instlog/el_update_2016_1/DSschema.sql
• Execute the DSschema.sql script.
• If Oracle WebLogic is used as application server, undeploy the unpatched
Archive Server applications and redeploy after patching. For more
information, see section 3.6.1 “Deployment on Oracle WebLogic” in
OpenText Archive Server - Installation on UNIX/Linux with Oracle Database (AR-
IASUO).

Chapter 2 Installing the Update
Note: Under some circumstances Archive Server will not start and the message
“UnsupportedOperationException” is shown in the as.log file. To solve this
problem caused by an issue with some certificates, install patch ASV-1050-024.
The patch is available in the Knowledge Center (https://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/ASV_1050_024).
Important
Do not start using Enterprise Library in production before the import of the
document IDs is completed!
Note: This step has to be performed only once, and only if you install the
Update on a system that contains documents already.
If you imported the IDs on Archive Server already (for example, during the
installation of a previous Update), skip this section.
You can start Enterprise Library without harming the system but you must ensure
that no documents are uploaded.

2.3. Additional tasks for OpenText Enterprise Library
Note: Depending on the number of documents this may take some time.
In case of many documents, the file size can become rather big.
You can ignore possible error messages.
5. Check the success of the export: The tool has finished when the last lines of the
*.data files contain the number of exported document IDs.
Example:
...
//total: 2359843 rows
5. Enter the following command to simulate the import without actually changing
anything:
./jre/bin/java -jar ImportRecords.jar <first data file> simulate
If no errors occur, enter the following command to import the IDs. Redirect the
output to a file (> elint.txt):
./jre/bin/java -jar ImportRecords.jar <first data file> import >
elint.txt

Chapter 2 Installing the Update
For more information about upgrading the database, see section 2.2.2.7 “Upgrading
the Content Server Database” in OpenText Content Server - Upgrade Guide
(LLESCOR100500-IUP).
For more information about the applied changes, see also section 7.7 “Changes in
Content Server database, opentext.ini, and other configuration issues” in OpenText
Content Suite Platform - Installation and Upgrade Guide (EL100500-IGD).
1. In a shell window, change to the <OT config AC>/setup directory, and then run
the following command:
ls -l *.Setup
2. If any .Setup files do not belong to the Tomcat user, change its user and group.
For example, run the following command:
chown otadm:otsys *.Setup
The result of ls -l should be similar to this example:
2. When the installer asks whether Apache Tomcat is stopped (“Ensure Tomcat
has been stopped...”), do the following:
