2016.1 is a set of patches for the OpenText products Archive Server and Enterprise Library,
version 10.5.0. The Update makes it easier to download and install all relevant
patches for a specific platform. Further, the Update Installer of the patches checks
prerequisites to minimize problems during the patch installation and installs the
patches conveniently.

Cumulative All Updates are cumulative. Therefore, it is sufficient to download only the latest
patches Update.

Update Installer You can use the Update Installer 10.5.0 – 2016.1 (update_installer.ksh file) to
install the patches of OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library.
The Update Installer is provided within the Update’s ZIP file.

Installing the Update

Observe the prerequisites before you start the installation.

2.1 Preparing the Update

/etc/opentext
Since Update 2014.03, Archive Server can be customized to operate without
using the /etc/opentext directory. Patching such systems requires special
treatment. Otherwise, this configuration will break.

Important
Do not continue if your system was customized to avoid using /etc/
opentext. If in doubt, contact OpenText Customer Support.

Database access
The Update Installer modifies the database schema and therefore needs access to
the database.

Note: The Update Installer can automatically perform the updates to the
Archive Server database schema required by the Update 2016.1.
Alternatively, the Update Installer creates an SQL script for a manual
database schema update.

Important
For the manual database schema update using the SQL script, make sure
that you have administrative access to the database.

“Unzip” available
Ensure that the “unzip” program is installed and available in the PATH or the
root user. To verify, run unzip in a terminal window as root. If the help is
displayed you can proceed.
Alternatively, run the profile script in <OT install AS>/bin.

Remote Administration Client

As Administration Client is installed on another computer, ensure that patch
ADC-1050-010 (or any later cumulative patch) is installed. The patch is
mandatory for full functionality.

Job protocols
Job protocols that existed for Archive Server will not be visible in OpenText
Administration Client after the installation of Update 2016.1 anymore.

Document Pipelines on Linux require libstdc++.so.5

Linux only: Due to the SAP RFC library, Document Pipeline for DocuLink and
Document Pipeline for SAP Solutions require the libstdc++.so.5 library. The
library is included in the C++ compatibility package compat-libstdc++-33.

2.2 Running the Update Installer

Use the Update Installer 10.5.0 – 2016.1 to start the installation of the patches as
described below. Take care to follow all steps that are relevant for your system.

To install the Update:

1. Download the UPDATE_1050_2016_01_<your OS>.zip file from the Knowledge

Center (https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/Open/61283797).

2. Sign in as root and extract the ZIP file into an empty directory (here named
<UPDATE_ROOT>).
All files of the update are located in the subdirectory <UPDATE_ROOT>/
UPDATE_1050_2016_01/<your OS>.

3. If Apache Tomcat is used as application server, make sure that Apache Tomcat
service is not running.

4. If installed, stop the Archive Spawner service.

5. If installed and running: Exit Document Pipeline Info.

6. Run the update_installer.ksh script as root to start the Update Installer:

root>> ksh update_installer.ksh
The Update Installer determines which components are installed on this
computer, checks prerequisites, and shows all patches that will be installed
automatically.
If the computer hosts Archive Server, you can choose whether the Update
Installer automatically performs the updates to the Archive Server database
schema that are required by the Update 2016.1 installation.

Notes

• The database schema update can sometimes fail with this error message:
“column to be modified must be empty to decrease precision or scale.”
You can safely ignore this error if it is the only error in the updateDB.
log file. For more information, see this Knowledge Base article (https://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/open/60652763).
• If you do not select the automatic database schema update, you must
update the Archive Server database schema manually after the update
installation is complete. The Update Installer creates an SQL script for
the manual database schema update. The path to the update script is
shown on the summary screen at the end of the update installation.

OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library – Update Installation Guide (UNIX/
8 Linux)
AR100500-DUG-EN-27
2.2. Running the Update Installer

For each patch installation, a separate log file will be written. See the log file in
the /tmp/opentext_instlog/el_update_2016_1 directory.

7. Oracle® Solaris only: If the error message “Error: Failed installing all patches for
Enterprise Library Services” is shown on a Solaris system, see “Avoiding
installation failure on Solaris/Enterprise Library” on page 12 for a
workaround.

8. Depending on the system, different manual post-processing steps are required:

• If the computer hosts Archive Server and you cleared the Update Archive
Server database schema option, update the Archive Server database schema
according to the changes of the Update 2016.1 installation.

• The Update Installer has created the DSschema.sql script. The path to
the update script is shown on the summary screen at the end of the
update installation. Example:

/tmp/opentext_instlog/el_update_2016_1/DSschema.sql
• Execute the DSschema.sql script.
• If Oracle WebLogic is used as application server, undeploy the unpatched
Archive Server applications and redeploy after patching. For more
information, see section 3.6.1 “Deployment on Oracle WebLogic” in
OpenText Archive Server - Installation on UNIX/Linux with Oracle Database (AR-
IASUO).

9. If Enterprise Library is used, additionally do the following:

a. On Content Server, install the patch pat105000108 for Extensions for

Enterprise Library:
From <UPDATE_ROOT>/UPDATE_1050_2016_01/<your OS>/ELS, extract the
pat105000108_CS64_<your OS>.tar.gz file to an empty directory. Follow
the instructions in the pat105000108.txt file contained in the ZIP file to
install the patch.
b. Likewise, install patch pat105000165 for Extensions for Enterprise Library
Search on Content Server.
The patch is available in the Knowledge Center (https://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/Open/53577441).
c. Unless you applied patch ELS-1050-001 already: On Archive Server, open the
<OT config AC>/setup/ICS.Setup file with an editor and change the
value of the ICS_SCENARIO variable to LEA (was: LEAELREC).
d. Start the Apache Tomcat and Archive Spawner services.
e. Configure the Content Server connection on Archive Server; see section 4.2
“Configuring Archive Server” in OpenText Content Suite Platform -
Installation and Upgrade Guide (EL-IGD).

10. If applicable, start the Apache Tomcat service.

11. If applicable, start the Archive Spawner service.

OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library – Update Installation Guide (UNIX/
Linux) 9
AR100500-DUG-EN-27
Chapter 2 Installing the Update

Note: Under some circumstances Archive Server will not start and the message
“UnsupportedOperationException” is shown in the as.log file. To solve this
problem caused by an issue with some certificates, install patch ASV-1050-024.
The patch is available in the Knowledge Center (https://
knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/ASV_1050_024).

2.3 Additional tasks for OpenText Enterprise Library

Exporting and importing document IDs
Run a tool to export all existing document IDs from Content Server. The tool writes
the IDs to two text files. On the Archive Server, use a second tool to import the IDs.

Since Update 2014.1, connections of multiple instances of Enterprise Library or

Content Server to a single Archive Server are possible. For the documents that were
archived before, running the export and import tools provides the information about
the originating Content Server. This information is required by Archive Server to
ensure unique IDs.

Important
Do not start using Enterprise Library in production before the import of the
document IDs is completed!

Note: This step has to be performed only once, and only if you install the
Update on a system that contains documents already.

If you imported the IDs on Archive Server already (for example, during the
installation of a previous Update), skip this section.

You can start Enterprise Library without harming the system but you must ensure
that no documents are uploaded.

To export the document IDs from Content Server:

1. Download the export-el-docids.zip file from the Knowledge Center (https://

knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/61283797).

2. Extract the export-el-docids.jar file to the <Content Server_installdir>

directory.

3. Stop the Content Server services.

4. At the command prompt, change to the <Content Server_installdir>

directory and run the JAR file as the OpenText user:
su - otadm
cd <Content Server_installdir>
./jre/bin/java -jar export-el-docids.jar -d -l

OpenText Archive Server and OpenText Enterprise Library – Update Installation Guide (UNIX/
10 Linux)
AR100500-DUG-EN-27
2.3. Additional tasks for OpenText Enterprise Library

The tool creates two *.data files in a subdirectory called exporteldocids of

the Content Server’s logs directory (usually <Content Server_installdir>
\logs\exporteldocids). Further, logging information is written to the
subdirectory.

Note: Depending on the number of documents this may take some time.
In case of many documents, the file size can become rather big.
You can ignore possible error messages.
5. Check the success of the export: The tool has finished when the last lines of the
*.data files contain the number of exported document IDs.

Example:

...
//total: 2359843 rows

If no documents were exported:

//generated Thu Dec 03 14:14:24 2015

CSGUID=4F4259C8-575B-900F-EE04-30AE201B17C7
RECTYPE=0
//total: 0 rows

Copy the *.data files to a directory on the Archive Server host.

6. You can start the Content Server services again.

To import the document IDs on Archive Server:

1. Download the ImportRecords.zip file from the Knowledge Center (https://

knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Open/61283797).
2. Extract the ZIP file to the directory on the Archive Server host that holds the
*.data files.

3. Stop Archive Server (Apache Tomcat and Archive Spawner services).

4. At the command prompt, load the Archive Server profile:
<AS_installdir>/bin/profile.sh

5. Enter the following command to simulate the import without actually changing
anything:
./jre/bin/java -jar ImportRecords.jar <first data file> simulate
If no errors occur, enter the following command to import the IDs. Redirect the
output to a file (> elint.txt):
./jre/bin/java -jar ImportRecords.jar <first data file> import >
elint.txt

Note: For further options, see README.TXT in the ImportRecords.zip file.

6. Repeat the previous step for the second .data file.

Chapter 2 Installing the Update

7. Start Archive Server again.

Upgrading Content Server database

Patch pat105000108 for Extensions for Enterprise Library requires an upgrade of the
Content Server database.

For more information about upgrading the database, see section 2.2.2.7 “Upgrading
the Content Server Database” in OpenText Content Server - Upgrade Guide
(LLESCOR100500-IUP).
For more information about the applied changes, see also section 7.7 “Changes in
Content Server database, opentext.ini, and other configuration issues” in OpenText
Content Suite Platform - Installation and Upgrade Guide (EL100500-IGD).

2.4 Verifying file permissions

After the installation of the Update, verify that the permissions of the .Setup files
are still correct.

To verify the permissions:

1. In a shell window, change to the <OT config AC>/setup directory, and then run
the following command:
ls -l *.Setup

2. If any .Setup files do not belong to the Tomcat user, change its user and group.
For example, run the following command:
chown otadm:otsys *.Setup
The result of ls -l should be similar to this example:

-rw-r--- 1 otadm otsys 9061 May 28 06:45 DS.Setup

-rw-r--- 1 otadm otsys 267 May 28 06:45 SiaType.Setup
-rw-r--- 1 otadm otsys 959 May 28 06:45 Compr.Setup
-rw-r--- 1 otadm otsys 3880 May 28 06:45 ADMS.Setup
...

2.5 Avoiding installation failure on Solaris/Enterprise

Library
If you encountered the error described in “Installing the Update“ on page 7 on a
Solaris system (“Error: Failed installing all patches for Enterprise Library Services”),
follow the procedure below.

To fix an installation error on Solaris:

1. Run the following command to start the patch installation manually:

ksh patch.sh ELS/ELS-1050-003.zip

2. When the installer asks whether Apache Tomcat is stopped (“Ensure Tomcat
has been stopped...”), do the following:
