Recent years have witnessed unprecedented changes in the way people work. Today, the need

work. In this context, the challenge for employers and researchers is to design sustainable work
environments that can best meet the needs of 21st century workers and ensure maximum levels

well-being and directly influence their work performance and productivity. Key factors like
temperature, air quality, lighting, noise conditions and ergonomics in the office affects the work
concentration and productivity.

For sustainable future, green buildings provide some of the most effective means to achieving a
range of global goals, such as addressing climate change, creating sustainable and thriving
communities, and driving economic growth. There is a growing evidence that green buildings not
only conserve resources but will also enhance the quality of life of the occupants.

Given this background, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region is organising
its maiden edition of “LIVE 2021” - An exclusive conference & exposition on Lighting, Insulation,
Ventilation & Ergonomics scheduled from 25 - 31 August 2021 through CII Hive Virtual Platform.

LIVE will focus on the latest trends, innovations, R&D, sustainable initiatives and technologies

 Lighting is one of several factors that combine to create healthy work environments that in turn help
promote employee engagement, well-being and productivity. Employee controlled lighting and
lighting solutions tailored to the individual needs of employees have considerable potential for
enhancing employees' work satisfaction and enhancing retention. The lighting sector currently
accounts for around 18% of the total electricity consumption in India. Thus, the government and
industry is playing an active role in promoting energy efficient smart lighting technologies.

Insulation acts as a barrier to heat flow and is essential for keeping your workplace warm in winter
and cool in summer. A well-insulated and well-designed office and factory provides year-round
comfort, cutting cooling and heating bills by up to half. This, in turn, reduces greenhouse gas
emissions. Growing construction of energy-efficient buildings to minimize natural resources
depletion with the adoption of new and innovative technology is anticipated to drive insulation
market growth.

General industrial ventilation reduces the concentration of the air contaminants and controls the
amount of heat that accumulates in hot industrial environments, by filtering the contaminated air
with fresh, clean, uncontaminated air. Improved ventilation, air filtration and cleanliness of duct
systems can result in energy efficiency gains and provides necessary conditions for maintaining the
efficiency, health, and safety of the workers. Across the country, with the increasing penetration of
air-conditioning systems, mandatory use of ventilation equipment & different air treatment products
for the manufacturing industries, have set a platform for the market growth of ventilation equipment.

Ergonomics, also known as human factors engineering, is the science of refining the design of
products to optimize them for human use. A good ergonomic workspace takes into consideration
many types of furniture, devices and tools that can improve the space itself for the employee. By
having all components and areas in easy reach and at comfortable distances, it minimizes the
amount of bending, twisting and reaching workers need to make, and consequently reduces strain,
stress, and discomfort, leading to a more relaxed positions and greater efficiency. The worker’s
well-being is highly associated with the productivity and cost benefits of industries.
