WATERMELON AND RATTAN

Once upon a time there was a kingdom that had a rich king,
had a palace which was completed with his possessions. The king
has guardians such as advisors, servant, ladies in waiting and other.

Behind the palace there is a vast garden, full with fruits and
vegetables plants. At the corner of the king's garden, there is
planted with watermelon which exactly side by side to rattan.

The king loved the plants very much. Every day he told his
servant to water the plants in order to grow well .

The servant and king's maid were very diligent in watering

the plants and caring them painfully, so the garden became very
beautiful.

From yesterday the king sat relax behind the palace enjoyed
the fresh air. He was surprised to hear the sound of people
sobbing in the garden. The crying is sound like the crying of
children. Then the king immediately called the servant.

"Servant! I heard sound of someone crying in the garden.

Please, try to check it there!"
 The servant rushed into the king’s garden searching for the
sound. Arriving in the garden, he also heard the voice of the crying
person. He watched in the garden but no one was crying. He
watched carefully while listening to the sound of the crying.

There was no one. There were only watermelon leaves moving

and there was water dripping on the leaves.

"I think this watermelon is crying. The tears were dripping

on the leaves, "said the servant muttering to himself. Then he
greeted to the watermelon.

"Are you crying watermelon? The servant asked.

Yes, it’s me. Watermelon Said. It turns out that the

sobbing crying was the Watermelon. The Servant became wondered,
finally he asked again.

“Why are you crying like that, Watermelon?”

“I was mocked by Rattan, after he mocking, then he

stabbing my body with his thorns.” Said the watermelon reported.

After that, the Servant looked at the Rattan beside him.

He was also surprised, finally he was angry to the Rattan.

“Why you are mocking to Watermelon, Rattan?” Said

Servant asked to Rattan beside him.

But the rattan did not answer, he said nothing. Three times
the Servant asked to the Rattan, but the Rattan still did not
answer, he said nothing.

"what was the rattan said to you, watermelon? ", Said the
servant asked again to watermelon.
 "I was told that I’m a bad tree, my stem are thin, my
leaves are withered, my flowers are thin and my fruits are bitter
no one would eaten. Then my feet are pierced by their thorns. It
hurts a lot, "said watermelon to inform the servant.

At that time the rattan just keep silent, he just stayed

quietly. The rattan was too arrogant. The Rattan stem is big like
a human calf, it also has thorns that become weapons, it can stab
people.

The Servant was very angry to rattan. It hurt watermelon, and

also did not want to answer after being asked.

Then the servant reported the fact , to the King. After the
king heard the words of servant and the king were also angry to
the rattan, and feel sorry for watermelon. Then the king ordered
the servant to give the watermelon's some water with some
handful of the sugar every day. the king also keep a punishment
to the rattan it is expelled from the king's garden, thrown away
from the forest.

Rattan that gets a punishment being thrown away into the

forest was never again given water to drink. His body began to
small, which was originally large like a human calf, now it is thin
like a finger. The stem grows longer. He was very troubled looking
for water to drink.

Watermelons that are given some handful of sugar start to

bear fruit and as large as baskets. The fruit has lots of water and
tastes sweet.

That's the origin of large, sweet watermelons and lots of

water. It also the rattan that got the punishment was forced to
stay in the forest, the trunk is long and small until now.

This story has role model that deserved to be example. People

who live close to each other do not mocked the people which is
nearby, moreover until hurt them. If you hurt to people, then
later you will also be hurt by other people too. People who live
close together must help each other, get along peacefully like a
family.
