6. IRRIGATION INSTRUCTIONS

6.1.INSTALLATION
During the installation phases of the self-propelled machinery the points below must be followed:
a) position the machinery in the chosen stationing area for irrigation; in the choice of a stationing
place please make sure that:
- the terrain on which the machinery is stationing is sufficiently compact and flat;
- there is enough space for the operator around the machinery;
- the area where the self-propelled machinery works is flat.
b) let the central stacker leg down, unhook the tractor, then let both lateral boom stacker legs down
to the ground;
c) remove the stop washer from its seat and proceed, with caution, to the machinery head rotation
until the wanted position is reached (the hose line must be parallel to the hose path);
d) replace the stop washer in its seat;
e) anchor the machinery to the ground (pic. 43): by means of the hydraulic pump (A) lower the
trolley lifter (B) allowing the spades to penetrate as much as possible into the ground (C). By
doing so, the trolley (D) will automatically unhook from the trolley lifter (B);
f) the distance between trolley lifter and trolley hook must be comprised between 20 and 25 cm.

C pic. 43

Rev. 0.0 del 02/13 - 14 -

www.ferbo.net FERBORAIN
6.2.STARTING
During the machinery starting phase, the points below must be followed:
a) connect the flexible hose terminal to the water inlet (A), making sure that all the fitting "hooks" are
placed correctly (pic. 44);
b) the manual control lever (B) must be in “0” position (STOP) (pic. 44-45);
c) slightly slow the gearbox down by means of the brake (C) (pic. 45);
d) disengage the latch (D) from the toothed crown (pic. 44);

A
C
pic. 44 pic. 45

e) unhook the tractor from the machinery drawbar and put the same in the right position to hook the
sprinkler trolley using the chain provided;
f) start to unroll the PE hose, reaching 3 Km/h maximum speed and, maintaining rectilinear
trajectory and constant speed, proceed to the end of to plot to be irrigated, gradually reducing the
speed in the last 25 meters. If the plot to be irrigated is longer than the hose, always make sure that
at least 1.5 –
2 turns of it remain rolled in the machinery;
For the first irrigation, it is important to unroll at least 80-90% of the hose length and wind it
up as the irrigation goes;
g) verify that the sprinkler angle of action is the desired one. To modify the angle, use (in the absence of
water) special reverser stops;
h) start the pumping station and/or open the valve between the power line and the hose, letting water
slowly into the machinery until it begins to come out from the sprinkler. Afterwards, let the pressure
reach the desired value (3.5 – 8 bar from Ø40 to Ø70 and 4 – 10 bar from Ø75 to Ø140);
i) insert the stopper (D) (pic. 44) on the toothed crown, and place the knob (E), connected to the gear
box (E1), on START. Place the knob (F) on the desired gear (I or II or III or IV) (pic. 46-47);
j) adjust the PE hose winding speed using the by-pass manual valve. To do this, loosen the knob (G)
by moving the lever it is possible to change the speed (fig. 47);
k) when starting the PE hose rewinding, make sure to adjust the coils left wound on the machinery;

REMINDER:SPEED EQUALIZER REGULATION

If during the hose winding up the machinery loses too much speed, it must be ensured that the by-pass
valve (H), which in this case acts as compensator, is opened further than usual (fig. 48). To do this, move
the lever (I) towards a lower hole; on the contrary, if during the hose winding up the machinery gains too
much speed, the lever (I) must be moved towards an upper hole (pic. 51)

pic. 48 I
H pic. 49

k) once the irrigation is over, the knock–off stirrup on the hose will disengage the gear box;
l) turn off the pumping station and/or close the valve between the line and the hose;
m) by hydraulic pump (L) pull back the stacker legs (M): the trolley will be lifted automatically (N) by
the trolley lifter (O); to change the distance from the ground (x) move the pin (P) (pic. 50);
n) put the machinery upper body back in transport position;
o) lift the boom stackers legs and parking stacker leg back up.

7. REGULATION INSTRUCTION

a) speed adjustment by manual by-pass valve:

- by unscrewing the knob (A) and pushing the lever (B) it is possible to vary the speed during the
Irrigation (pic. 51)
b) speed adjustment by manual transmission placed on the gearbox (WITHOUT WATER PRESSURE)
- move the speed lever (C) from the current position to the desired position (pic. 52);
- if this action proves difficult, since this is not a synchronized gear box, the PTO socket (E) must be
turned a little by the handwheel (the little steering wheel) (D) so that the gears in the gear box can
rotate a little bit, and at the same time repeat the action of moving the speed lever.

8. MACHINERY IMPROPER USE

- Do not unroll the hose alongside a ditch at less than 5 m;

- do not wind up the hose on a muddy area without lifting it from the ground and inserting little
wooden boards every 10-15 m;
- never leaver the crank engaged on the gearbox PTO;
- the machinery is not allowed to public roads circulation;
- make sure not to reach electric lines or high voltage cables with the water jet;
- during the transfer phases it is prohibited to sit or stand on the machinery;
- after the hose is unrolled, wind it up within a few hours, to prevent its stickingto the ground; If this
is not possible, pass a rope under the entire hose length;
- after having engaged the lever in gear position, observe the hose winding up for a few minutes,
making sure the machinery is securely anchored to the ground and does not tend to move. If it
does, increase the legs grip on the ground;
- when the machinery is used with partially unrolled PE hose we recommend:
a) unroll the hose with the utmost attention, checking that the length of hose which remains on the
roller doesn’t come loose; we therefore suggest a low unrolling speed and gradual stopping;
b) Periodically irrigate unrolling at least 80%-90% of its length.
