1. Proper Personal Protective Equipment
Lab coats/ gowns are available and worn?
Lab shoes that fully cover feet are worn?
Long hair confined? Jewelry, lanyards and other loose articles are confined or removed?
Goggles, face masks, are of appropriate type and worn?
Appropriate gloves available and worn?
2. General Safety Practices
Are there foods or beverages inside the laboratory?
Are students supervised by their teacher/research adviser?
Are students quietly working inside the laboratory?
Are there gadgets during the lab work?
Are students fooling or horseplaying inside the laboratory?
3. Housekeeping
Are floors, aisles and exits tidy, free from obstruction and dry?
Are benches cleaned and free of chemicals?
Work area including the interior of fume cupboards and equipment cleaned after use?
Is access to all emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kit, emergency shower and eye wash)
free from obstruction?
Are apparatus cleaned after use?
Are equipment turned off and flames extinguished after use?
Are equipment left running overnight shielded and labelled with name and telephone number of person to
be contacted?
Disposal procedure of chemical wastes are strictly followed?
Is water turned off and no solid left in the sink?
Are airconditioning units and lights turned off?
