1. TITLE
A study on technical analysis of selected commodities traded on MCX and NCDEX.

2. INTRODUCTION
This study involves the technical analysis of the commodities price in the commodity
exchanges like MCX and NCDEX. By using the descriptive data and data is collected
through secondary data. This study is made by comparing of one year past price of
commodities. This study helps investors to make right investment decisions. A commodity
market is a place where physical and virtual buying and selling and trading raw or primary
products. There are two types commodities hard and soft commodities .Hard commodities
are those resources which are directly extracted or mined – gold, rubber and oil, where as soft
commodities are agricultural products like corn, wheat, coffee, sugar, soybeans. In this
project price of commodities are taken from MCX that is „Multi Assets Exchange of India
Limited‟ and NCDEX that is „National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange‟.
.
3. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The concept of this study is „‟A Study on Selected Commodities Traded on MCX and
NCDEX Using Technical Analysis‟‟. In India production of commodities are facing
problems like seasonal production, long waiting period, difficulty to control production,
economic impact, environment impact and so on. Because of the above problems investor‟s
facing difficulties to analyze the commodity growth, thus this study helps to technically
analyze the commodities and secure the investors fund.

4. OBJECTIVE.
1. To analyze the price of selected commodities in Commodity Market.
2. To study about the two different Commodity exchanges: MCX and NCDEX.
3. To get information about the usage of selected commodities in Indian Market.
5. NEED FOR THE STUDY
The purpose behind this study is to analyze the growth of commodities in MCX and NCDEX
exchanges. It helps the investors to know the market trend and helps in to take right
investment decisions.

6. SCOPE OF THE STUDY


Scope of this study is about commodity market and investment opportunities available in
commodities market. This study involves technical analyze of selected commodities in
commodity market and helps to know the price fluctuation of commodities in specific period.
Data is collected for a period of one year.

7. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The analysis is conducted by using Descriptive Methodology. Secondary data is collected
from MCX, NCDEX, journals, and websites.

Sample size; Totally Eight commodities are selected as sample size they are;
1. Crude oil
2. Silver
3. Gold
4. Copper
5. Cotton
6. Walnut
7. Turmeric
8. Coffee

Technical Tools; Following are the tools used for analyze the price of commodities;
1. Moving Average Technique.
