OPEN ENDED LABORATORY ASSIGNMENT

HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING (CE – 432)

For open ended laboratory assignment, students have to develop the methodology for the
assigned problem themselves. This assignment is for concerned Hydraulics engineering students.

Lab Assignment

Hydraulic jump and how hydraulic ump can be created, possible length of hydraulic jump are
discussed in theory class. You are assigned to experimentally develop an expression for length
of hydraulic jump.

Resources

Hydraulics engineering laboratory resources, relevant books, research papers to be utilized.

Groups

Students will carry out experimental work in group format. Reports will be on individual basis.
Each group will be of 8 students on roll number basis. Last group can be of 4 to 8 students. Any
group of less than 8 students is advised to contact the teacher.

Weight age

15 % of laboratory / design part of Hydraulics Engineering course.

Report will be evaluated as;

 Study background - ( 10 % )
 Methodology - ( 30 % )
 Report presentation - ( 20 % )
 Results and discussions - ( 30 % )
 Conclusions and recommendations - ( 10 % )
