REGION INSULAR

The Insular region of Colombia includes all of the country's islands, such as the Archipelago of San
Andres and Providencia in the Caribbean Sea and the Malpelo and Gorgona islands in the Pacific
Ocean. It does not include river or lake islands.

TYPICAL DISHES
The typical dishes of San Andres are elaborated with fish, lobsters, snails and
crabs accompanied with plantains, coconut and yucca. The best known typical dish
is the rondón which is a kind of fish casserole with snails slowly cooked in coconut
milk with yucca, yams and fish, and the dumpling is a cake made of wheat flour.

The Crab Festival:

is celebrated every year on January 1st. On that day, residents of the island of San Andres
and visitors can taste various dishes prepared with this crustacean. Also, during the event,
local music and dances are enjoyed.

Green Moon Festival:

The festival begins with a beautiful drum march through the main streets of the island, this
celebration teaches us the history of these islands.
