REVIEW WRITING

The article “Sauve Qui Peut” is written by “F. S. Aijazuddin”. It was

published in DAWN newspaper on 29th of August, 2019. Sauve Qui Peut is a
French phrase which means “Save Himself Who Can”. Writer uses this phrase as
a title for his article and as per me this title is the best title for this article. Writer
wrote this article to divert our attention towards a grave issue i.e. our preparation in
case of war as a nation. He raises a question that, where do we stand in civil
defence as a nation in case of war? And give examples of other nations in this
respect. The writer is an esteemed and well-reputed writer who often writes articles
in different newspapers.

I completely agree and support the writer’s viewpoint in this article. He

provides excellent supporting details in the favor of his argument. For more
clarification I would give the example of ISRAEL. Pakistan has never accepted
Israel as a country and Israel have a great sense of rival and feelings of hatred for
Pakistan. Same is the case with Pakistan. Israel is a great threat for our integration.
In Israel, a citizen is not provided with National Identity Card until he or she goes
through a 2 year military and martial arts training. Another example is of our
brother country, Turkey. Same is the law in Turkey. Students have to go through 2
years of military training when they are in their colleges. And that is why many
rebellions have been failed against Rajab Tayyip Erdogan (President of Turkey)
during his government. A few years back we have seen the failure of a rebellion in
Turkey in which Ex-Chief of Army Staff and former higher military officers were
part of this rebellion. But this rebellion was made fail just due to the public of
Turkey. And democracy continues in Turkey. Now these are the nations which are
steadily ready for the defence of their country. But if our nation goes through same
situation, will we be able to counter it? Obviously not.

Concluding the report, now our position is crystal clear in this respect that
we are not able to counter even a rebellion. Will we be able to face a WAR. Where
will we take refuge in case of war? How will we defend our family, our property
and ourselves in case of war starts? Government should immediately construct
underground hideouts that can be used as a safe refuge in case of war or even in
case of Nuclear Attack. Secondly, government should immediately arrange

military trainings for civilians on a national level. Resultantly, we can counter any
threat to our national integration in form of rebellion or conventional attack by the
foes. As the threats are increasing day by day, government should take measures
on emergency basis. Otherwise we would also shout one day, “Sauve Qui Peut”
i.e. “SAVE HIMSELF WHO CAN”…….
