BLACK START DG SET OPERATION

Black start DG set Auto operation (peak plant). Notes:

BLACK START DG SET OPERATION

Black start DG set Q26 and Q133

Conditions for closing breaker in Auto mode:

1. BSDG in Auto position.
2. Incoming breakers between peak and base plant are
in open position (BNA901 and BNA902)
3. BSDG start is active.
4. BSDG running status active.
5. MCB of Black start in close position.
6. Voltage supervision status active.
7. Start stop fault alarm not active in BSDG.

Conditions for opening breaker in Auto mode:

1. Black start in stop condition.
2. MCB of Black start in open position.
3. Black start stop order active.

SOFT START OPERATION

• Soft-start operation mode will enable to close outgoing • Soft-start operation mode will enable engine AVR
MV breaker even MV busbar is dead. excitation whenever generator breaker is close

SOFT START OPERATION

• Conditions to enable soft-start operation: • Soft-starting energizing:

• Confirm that all outgoing feeders BAO901-BAO906 are
• Outgoing soft-start enable to be active from CFA901.
open and HV blackout condition is active by opening
• Both 400KV overhead line (OHL1 and OHL2) are open
OHL1 and OHL2.
from NEPCO side .
• Request NEPCO to close breaker for Step-up
transformer which operator plan to do soft-start for it.
• Close manually outgoing feeder BAO90_ for chosen
step-up transformer.
• Manually Close engine MV breaker BAE0_1, at least at
80% of engine nominal speed, and only after closing
generator breaker, generator AVR excitation will active.
• Monitor voltages in both end of step-up transformer.
• Switch off soft-start selector switch in CFA901 once
complete soft-start energizing.

ENGINE OPERATION MODES

• All Engines will forcefully run into Island mode

operation if ANY if soft start operation is active, even
after closing MV and HV breaker.
• Island mode operation will disable KW mode
operation, engine load will follow available load from
grid and auxiliary.
• In case of running IPP3 for energizing total dead grid
operator has to keep engines running in Island mode.
• Changing back to KW mode that will enable KW
reference for each engine, so operator has to confirm
each KW reference of each engine before disabling
soft-start condition.
• Engines will back to normal KW mode operation after
operator disable all soft-start switch in CFA901 panel
and engine parallel with grid signal is active.
