Idk why there are 5 downvotes already when this is so true. As a Japanese
person, I'm so angry that the Olympics are still being held despite the fact that
another wave is happening + most citizens not having been able to get their
vaccines yet. I have been living in Korea for almost 10 years now and I got my
vaccine here but my family in Japan haven't been able to get theirs. 80% of the
population have been protesting against holding the Olympics yet they're
turning a blind eye and putting so many at risk. Accepting all those athletes,
envoys, etc. and having all those staff centered in one place? Plus I saw the
opening ceremony and most of the athleted were wearing their masks below
their noses or chins. I'm disappointed and angry. Are the Japanese people
sacrifices for the greedy IOC??

It’s being downvoted bc people rather stay delululu and be entertained
instead of realizing that things like the Olympics during a pandemic can
have devastating consequences. I get your anger. There’s just so many
people being out at risk for no good reason at all. The IOC are
scumbags and I bet you that they wouldn’t have let this happen if the
Olympics were taking place in a rich western country 😤

Because it's expensive. They can't afford to delay any longer because
Tokyo basically put up finances and IOC doesn't want to pay insurance
I guess. And also cos athletes careers are limited, they start and it's
over in a few years. It messes with their training.

As someone who lives in Korea we most definitely have started
vaccines. Over 60s have been able to get the vaccine since May. I just
got mine yesterday and I’m 25 (because I’m a teacher). Plenty of
international students and other people here I know have also gotten
theirs. Also the vaccine is planning to be opened up freely from 18-49
in 2 or 3 weeks from now.

That's so interesting lol. Here in Japan they just talked about the actual athletes from
the country and how many awards they've won etc. They didn't touch on anything
anything political unless mentioning a new country or why Russia was competing
under a different name.
