Diana : Hi, Shida. How was your trip to the Old Folks’ Home?
Diana : She said that volunteering not only makes us feel better as a person but
it also helps the people who really need help.
Shida : She is damn right. Did she say the reasons for choosing to be a voluneteer?
Shida : Hi!. It was so wonderful, Diana. Honestly, I never knew that being a
volunteer and sharing my time there would make me a happier person.
Diana :That’s great. It reminds me about a lady who enjoys volunteerism too.
Have you read the oral history text about the ‘Humanity Touch’ of an iron
lady?
Diana : Yes, she did. Her personal life experience and she wants to do her best for
mankind just like the MRA slogan, ‘The best man is he who is best to
mankind’.
Diana : She started joining the NGO in 2018 as there were no volunteers in her
hometown and she volunteered to be the coordinator of her district in
Johor State.
Shida : Wow, that’s impressive. What else did she say about volunteering?
Shida : Indeed. Tell me more about her, please. When did she start joining the

1. Teacher writes the phrase ’SAFETY PRECAUTION’ on the board with

2. Teacher elicits letters from the students and introduces the phrase.
3. Students watch the oral history video about an iron lady who is active in
volunteerism during the COVID -19 pandemic
4. Teacher asks questions to elicit students’ feedback. e.g

Writing Task
Imagine you are the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) officer. Draw a poster to raise
awareness among the volunteers about the safety precaution to be taken as an NGO volunteer
when they are doing social work. Use the information you get from the gallery walk.
When drawing your poster, remember to:
Have an appropriate title for the poster
Add suitable pictures or graphics
Use an appropriate font and font size
Add colour to your poster
