Story of A Front liner: “Humanity Touch” of an NGO Iron Lady during Covid-19
At the beginning of this year, Coronavirus appeared in our country and distinguished
by its contagiousness, severe cause and the rest of its complications. The number of cases
started to grow everyday exponentially. There were not enough places in hospitals for
everyone. Medical staffs began to work to their limit of capabilities and dead people were
buried in mass graves. While all kindergartens, schools, universities were placed under
quarantine almost immediately. Others were staying at home around the clock.
When the government decreed the Movement Control Order (MCO) in March 2020,
just like everyone else, she was in shock and in dilemma too wondering will the battle of this
pandemic be over or will it be continued. Many things ran wild in her mind. At one-point,
Malaysian Relief Agency, was selected to be in the front line and she was grateful because she
gained the opportunity to get involved as a front line and go around helping people. This built
her spirit to help more people. After all, the best man is he who is best to mankind. On the other
hand, many were worried including her family members. Five of her children were against it.
They didn’t allow her because for them she was unfit to go around helping people based on her
age. They wanted her to just stay at home. They looked at her as an old woman who couldn’t
do much at her age.
Many were against except one of her daughters, Ainul. She was also in the same
NGO who lives in Tangkak. She supported and encouraged her and she was the one who
brought her into this MRA in 2018. She was confident that her mother could do this during this
pandemic and she made it successfully. She made plans and arrangements where a list was
prepared to help the needy who deserved the essential things and apparently, the list became
longer because there were many people who lost income due to the MCO. She made sure all
her volunteers under her were well informed about the safety precaution and how to deal with
people when they deliver the essential things. They distributed essential things for the needy in
whole Pontian District covering all four zones. Now, they had extended help to cancer patients
and disabled people too.
Safety precautions were taken throughout the volunteerism where she always
followed the Standard of Procedure (SOP) such as washing hands regularly, using hand
sanitizers before and after handing the essential things. She also took supplements like Vitamin
C, Calcium, Magnesium and other multi-vitamins. She used the Ceragem V3 to increase her
immune system in her body. This Ceragem V3 helped her in relaxing her body and relieving
stress. To meet the victims of Covid-19 or needy, all volunteers were required to wear mask
and hand sanitizer. They had to maintain distance while delivering the essential things. There
was no handshaking at all and they were not allowed to meet the victims for more than 5
minutes. Prayers, supplement, and Ceragem V3 helped her a lot and by God’s grace, she was
not affected by the Covid-19 during her vounteering.
Throughout her volunteerism in this current pandemic crisis, she learnt that humanity
is more important than anything else. Awareness and acceptance increased the positive energy
in herself. This pandemic showed her the reality of human attitude. She was thankful to Allah
the Almighty that she has got a permanent job and handsome salary. Health is really a wealth to
possess. “I think the effect of being born in poverty and got help from a kind person at that
time was my greatest strength. It was a satisfaction feeling, like I was able to return the favour
