Timeline for implementation

The timeline for the new curriculum, assessment design and Board exam design for 10 grades
will come out from 2022-2023 academic year were as for 12 grade it will come effect from
2024-2025, academic year

according to the National Education Policy 2020, which had been given a green light by the
Cabinet on 29th July, Wednesday.

The new assessment scheme for 11th grade will be coming to effect from 2021-2022
academic year batch and 9th grade from the 2023-2024 academic year. In 1st phase includes
1st year of pre-primary school and 3-month preparatory module for Class-I students of the
ECE will be come into effect from 2021-2022 academic year and the phase 2 Expansion of 1
year of pre-primary classes through primary schools and Anganwadis by 2023-24 academic
year.

Timeline for National Education Policy (NEP)

2021-2022:
The making of National Curricular Framework for School Education (NCF SE) and National
Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education
2022-2023:
Setting of a common guideline of National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) and
the teachers have to be prepared for a transformation into new assessment system
2024-2025:
Reaching universal foundational literacy and numeracy in all the primary class for all by
standard 3
2029- 2030:
The TEIs will be converted into multi-disciplinary institutes. Teachers education will be
moved into a multidisciplinary colleges and universities, with minimum qualification 4-year
B.Ed.
2040:
Policy is fully operational following which a comprehensive review will be undertaken
