COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course, students will be introduced to safety requirements while working in the clinical histology laboratory.
Students will gain basic knowledge and techniques involved with tissue preparation including; gross dissections,
tissue fixation, the effects of various fixatives on tissue structures, processing, embedding, microtomy, and
cryotomy. The learner will be introduced to the theory of staining and the routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining
methodologies and troubleshooting techniques employed for the demonstration of both cellular and non-cellular
structures within tissue sections.
