Education is the process of learning that can take place anywhere and at any time. I believe that
creativity and activity as well as books and lessons are essential to the learning process. As a
teacher, I hope to instill in the children a sense of knowledge and self-worth that will remain with
them throughout their lives.

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that in my future I wanted to become a teacher. My parents
were teachers. I used to imitate the way my mom used to take classes in school. I always looked
up to my teachers, especially the ones I had in elementary school. I even played 'school' with my
friends and pretended I had my own classroom. I loved being in charge. One Summer, I was in
charge of some children in a private school as I was working as an intern on child
psychology. This was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever been through. I was a
mentor to help guide the children, and by the end of the summer I felt as if I had really
accomplished something. I am planning to pursue a career in Elementary education to enhance
my skills and knowledge. I love working with children. It is important to encourage the
development of thinking and reasoning to enable students to use their minds.Education is
important because it gradually prepares students for a future career. I learned a lot from my field
observation. I had lots of confusion regarding the teaching environment; such as: why do
students need brain breaks in between their class, how do I encourage or motivate students to
focus or why drawing or recess is important and so on. I got all of my answers through my field
observation.

In terms of philosophy, I feel I will be mostly benefited from the pragmatic approach to teaching.
This approach states that teachers feel the classroom is a community of learners, not just a
teacher standing in front of a group of students. I believe this is true because if the teacher is
learning and exploring along with the students, the students are more likely to be involved and
interested in what is being taught. I also believe the strategies of teaching by problem solving
and encouraging democratic procedures are the most profitable in today’s society. My beliefs in
student involved activities, emphasis of curriculum, and democratic classroom management are
all part of the pragmatic approach. I believe that  cognitive perspective has become much more
widespread in recent decades, mainly because it accounts for how things such as memories,
3

beliefs, emotions, and motivations contribute to the learning process. Cognitive psychology
focuses on understanding how people think, learn, remember, and process information which is
my way of teaching and understanding my students.

As a teacher, I will try to enrich the minds of my students. I want them to understand the
importance of education. I hope to serve as a role model and gain respect from all of my pupils. I
trust that my teaching strategies will be inspiring, and my dedication and passion for teaching
obvious. I hope that after every successful year of my teaching, I will develop a feeling of
satisfaction. I want my students to have an understanding of education and a positive outlook on
life. I hope that by my passion for teaching I will have an impact on my students. I want them to
walk away with a continuing eagerness and motivational drive to learn and advance.Cooperative
learning will be a method I am going to use in my classroom. I believe that in a cooperative
learning group a student can learn socialization skills and how to work with others. This goes
along with the pragmatic/progressive philosophy that children learn by doing. The progressivism
teaching style also includes the incorporation of problem-solving and critical thinking
techniques. I want my students to learn to think for themselves and be able to function in society.

At the same time, I will be a fellow learner myself. I f I find that the lessons are too easy for some

students and more challenging for others, differentiation will surely help my teaching practice
and learners. With any given lesson, I will differentiate based on a trio — struggling, average,
and advanced. I also believe that all learners have preferred methods of receiving input, whether
they are auditory, visual, kinesthetic, or written. In my lesson planning, I will make sure to
include as many learning preferences as I realistically can. Lastly, for students with more
profound needs, I will consult the specialists in your school. Students with learning disabilities or
physical impairments or who read far below grade level may be in need of serious intervention.

In order to be a great teacher, I should display enthusiasm, leadership, commitment, and

compassion toward my profession as well as my students and fellow teachers. By exhibiting
these key factors, I will appeal to the schools at which I am applying as someone who will work
to better the lives of their students in a variety of ways. Helping others succeed is a central
4

component to teaching, thus trust, knowledge, and commitment are invaluable traits. In order to
qualify as a public school teacher, it is important to earn the necessary certification, which varies
based on the school and state in which you reside. Many private schools, however, have their
own criteria to qualify. Teachers must also maintain current professional development standards
by taking regular refresher courses and tests.

The philosophy of education is defined as the influences of what is taught and how the students
will be taught. Throughout my study in my education class and past experiences, my mind was
expanded and I acquired sufficient knowledge to develop my own concept of my personal
philosophy of education. I will try my best to implement those knowledge and experiences in my
actual classroom.
