The Performance Task:


The learners are expected to write an editorial report of President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation
Address for 2020 last July 27, 2020, discussing the highlights of his SONA with specific focus on the
government’s thrust in the coming years. Towards the last end of the report, learners must include a short
synthesis of the SONA.
Goal:
The learners shall write an editorial report of President Duterte’s SONA. The report must include the key
ideas of President Duterte in his speech. At the end of the report is a synthesis of the entire SONA. The
editorial report must be presented in a systematic and clear manner. (Filipino sa Piling Larang

The editorial report must include a specific paragraph for the progress report and future thrust of the
government for the non-state institutions (e.g. private banks, private corporations, cooperatives, trade
unions and NGOs). Another specific paragraph shall be devoted as well for the progress report and future
thrust of the government for state institutions (Philippine government). (Understanding Culture, Society
and Sports)
After the summary of the SONA, a synthesis shall be presented. Then, the learner will choose a situation
that shows Duterte’s freedom of choice as the Chief Executive, and elaborate the consequences of his
choices may it be a positive and negative one. (Introduction to Philosophy of the Human Person)
Finally, using the social science perspective, explain the context of Duterte’s actions based on his speech
that shows his personal views as a Filipino. Briefly state the Sikolohiyang Pilipino and Pantayong
Pananaw that is embedded in his speech. (Discipline and Ideas in Social Science)
Learners Role: The learner is an observant citizen, an analyst and a reactor of the President’s SONA
and also an active player in nation building providing insights on significant issues concerning the
country.
