d) Summary of my video I have watched: The title of the video was Making Students

Feel Safe. The reason I chose the video is because I always believe that we should all

feel safe before we start doing anything challenging in our life. In this video, I have

watched that a certain school(Fall-Hamilton Elementary School) has implemented a

new approach called Trauma-Informed approach. According to them, this approach

ensures that students feel safe, supported, and nurtured-to improve their chances of

academic success.I have learned a lot of aspects of this approach. The school

implemented a SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING curriculum, adapted the

PHYSICAL SPACE, and built strong ONE-TO-ONE relationships with students. I agree

with them in that one of the most transformative strategies is getting someone who is

trained and understanding students’ mental health and needs.I also agree with that part

that they have utilized one of the foundational program that is LEADER IN ME which

teaches leadership and life skills through SEVEN HABITS. Posters around the school

helped lots of students to good grades and be kind and respectful to others. I believe

that this trauma-informed environment promotes students to become empowered. It will

also help them to make decisions in any critical situation. The school has also used

some proactive approaches/strategies that I liked such as low lighting, calming

colors, essential oil diffuser, peace corners to help students manage emotions. They

also have a check in and check out system to build strong relationships with students
2

during a time of need.I also agree that to keep students feel safe, faculty also has to be

supportive to each other which is called we’ve gotten your back approach. I’ve learned a

lot of approaches from this video that can be implemented for me and my students in

future.

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The title of the video was The powerful

Effects of Drawing on learning.According to this video, Drawing is a powerful way to

learn.I totally agree with that. Drawing is better than writing notes, viewing images, or

listening to lectures. I can relate to this idea with my childhood. When I was little, I

learned fast when I saw any picture associated with the lesson. I have learned that

there are 4 ways to incorporate drawing into your teaching: 1. Emphasize rough drafts

by letting students draw very simply, 2. Use interactive Notebooks and Sketchnotes by

telling them to sketch out complex ideas, 3. Try data visualizations by asking students to

collect, analize, and explain data in charts, graphs, maps, or timelines, 4. Low-stakes

assessment by skipping the test and challenging students to show their understanding

of a topic through drawing. I believe students will be able to learn in those 4 ways more

than the traditional way of learning. Drawing beats out reading and writing to help

students remember concepts.

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The reason for choosing the video is that

when I started my career as a teacher assistant, I saw that many kids/students who lose

recess, felt exhausted on their academic curriculum. But the one who had recess or any

kind of outdoor activity, they could focus more on their study. That time I didn’t

understand the reason. I learned the importance of recess after watching this video.

Research suggests that it’s a big mistake to sacrifice recess to make room for even

more academics. The benefits of recess are: Brain health( recess promotes physical

activity, which is key for developing healthy, active brains-especially for young

children),Emotional health(when students play together, they practice how to take

turns, resolve conflicts, and work together),Academics(finally, pretend play during

recess lays the foundation for creative inquiry- enhancing a child’s ability to produce and

test multiple solutions to problems). I totally agree with all those benefits discussed on

this video. Recess will make kids more likely to stay on task, That way, they will lead to

better academic performance.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: h

 ttps://youtu.be/5kNb19PzpDY

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The video is all about writing. When I was

little and in school, I didn’t like to write. But when I grew up, I felt that I could express my

feelings through writing. There are lots of things we can’t express through our words or

through talking. I learned from this video that writing can boost learning in almost any

content area, including math, science, and social studies. Students can answer their

questions through multiple- choice or short-answer questions and those things can

assist with factual recall but if they write in details on any topics, that will ask students to

create their own meaning. The reason why students learn more through expository

writing is that the process of writing improves a student’s ability to recall information,

make new connections between different concepts, and synthesis information in noble

ways. I believe that writing is challenging and it is hard for most of the students to get

their thoughts down on paper. But that difficulty is part of what makes it so valuable. I

also learned from the video that we can allow students to do lots of rough drafts thinking

on their writing to keep them motivated. I agree with five engaging writing activities to

use in any subject that is discussed in this video. The activities are: 1. Asking to write “I

Wonder” questions on their journals after each lesson( Wondering prompts students to

think outside the box and sets the stage for exploration),2. Having students create a

journal to track their learning and reflect on it(students can be encouraged to include

charts, drawings or graphic organizers as they record their learning journey), 3.Asking

6

students questions about the topics they have learned( these prompts help students

think about a topic in an informal, low-stakes way), 4. Having students create articles

around the topics they’re learning(students can fill in gaps in their own knowledge when

they connect their learning to real-world impacts), 5. Asking students to create

imaginative scenarios(These prompts activate multiple regions of the brain allows them

to engage with the material in a more personal way). I believe that if every teacher

follows all those activities to engage their students in writing, students will be able to

have more interest in writing.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: https://youtu.be/d6CJzVRE2ww

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The video I’ve watched will be helpful for

me as a teacher as well as for my students. I learned that when we sing or hum we feel

a little more expanded. Our breathing and airways open up. Singing or humming is a

simple way to get the whole classroom recentered when things are out of hand. I

believe that when a person sings or hums, his or her survival brain gets the signal that

you are safe and the nervous system gets calm.I agree that singing is the exercise for

the nervous system. Ii also agree that the stronger our nervous system is, the better we

can control our fight or flight response. I learned that when we sing or hum, our heart

rate changes which creates positive or neutral physical sensations. After that out

nervous system gets back on and ready to learn. This is really a helpful video to deal

with the students when they refuse to learn to get engaged. Singing is really a very

quick little break for learning.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: https://youtu.be/MufiPWW_uwk

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The reason for choosing this video is to

learn how to teach the elementary students to take charge of their reactions. As a

substitute teacher, I mostly go to elementary schools to teach and I always see that

students' reactions are very negative and crazy towards a very small reason. I learned a

new strategy from this video which will help me to deal with that. In this video, students

learn how to match their reactions to the size of the problem. They had to choose which

one is big and which one little problem and how to react towards them. They write them

down and share them in class.I agree that if parents get involved in this process, that

would be more helpful to manage their relationship as well. I also agree that this kind of

social-emotional strategies should be taught in school just like they were taught math or

reading. I believe that asking students to consider the scale of problems helps them

determine expected reactions.I also believe that when students practice skills for self

management, they are ready when real issues arise. School should teach students how

to behave or react to things, that way students will be able to control themselves and

move on to their next steps.

b) Title of the video I chose to watch: The Science Behind Brain Breaks

c) URL of the video I chose to watch:https://youtu.be/8zfKtJF0aA4

d) Summary of my video I have watched: The reason I chose this video was to learn

how brain breaks help students to focus on their learning. When I started working as a

teacher assistant, I saw that many students especially the younger ones need brain

breaks a lot. Teachers give them short recess or they just lay down for a while. After

watching the video, I learned that according to the research well-timed breaks can

increase productivity, creativity, and social skills.Another study has shown that the brain

doesn’t take rest when we take breaks, instead the brain works on their crucial learning.

I agree that without breaks, students won’t be able to learn. I also learned some tips

about breaks from this video: Tip#1: Make them Frequent(Plan for repeated pauses

throughout the day to give students time to process their learning),Tip#2 Make them

Active(Make time for several quick exercise or movement breaks to help students

reset), Tip# Make them Social(Giving students time to interact during recess or a

planned game can improve social skills like conflict resolution, collaboration, and group

problem solving),Tip#4 Make them Creative(breaks allow kids to use their imagination

and creative thinking). I also learned that physical activity breaks reduce stress and

increase blood flow and oxygenation to the brain, helping to keep students’ brain

sharp, healthy, and active. It’s really a helpful video for me to learn about the purpose

and benefits of brain breaks.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: h

 ttps://youtu.be/pCv0G4JEuJY

d) Summary of my video I have watched: This video is very helpful for me because I

learned that when teachers model self-regulation by using a voice that is calm, neutral,

and assertive, they help students feel cared for- and ready to learn. I also learned that

self-regulation is the way that we manage ourselves to behave in the ways we intend to

behave rather than becoming overwhelmed with anger or fear or anxiety and acting out.

This video will help anyone to control their aggressive behavior. I believe that if teachers

use their calm voices, they will get the best responses from their students.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: https://youtu.be/Iq47-x2EYrE

d) Summary of my video I have watched: I chose this video to learn how to boost

student memory. As a human being, I believe that our memory is very short especially

when we are little, which means we forget things very quickly. In this video, I learned

that forgetting starts as soon as learning happens. I agree with the five tips that were

included in the video to make the learning stick. We all should follow those tips. First of

all, a teacher can use peer-to-peer explanations9 when students explain to peers,

fading concepts are retrieved, strengthened, and consolidated. The next tip is to review,

then break and then review again( a study showed that students remember more when

key lessons are reviewed throughout the year). The other tip is to give students frequent

practice tests( many studies showed that frequent practice tests boost long-term

retention and reduce test stress). Teachers also can try interleaving methods where

they will mix up the concepts and problems to make students think on their feet, which

encodes learning more deeply. I like the last tip the most, which is to pair text with

images. It’s really easier to remember what’s been read and seen. I used to follow the

last tip when I took my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. And it really worked for me. I

believe that if teachers follow those tips stated above, they can boost retention and

make their teaching stick.

c) URL of the video I chose to watch: h

 ttps://youtu.be/U6_pLkwaCeY

d) Summary of my video I have watched: I always choose to teach elementary

students especially K-2, because they like to get care and I love to teach them with my

care and attention. I learned a lot from this video. I believe that morning meetings are

really a great way to start the day with the students. I agree with the video stating that

before any learning can take place the students really need to feel safe, feel like they’re

seen and feel like they’re cared about. A teacher can make it possible through morning

meetings. Morning meetings can build community in the classroom. Students will be

able to learn from each other’s strengths and they will help each other. Morning

meetings are like a foundation for everything that comes after. There are lot of activities

that teachers can do to start their day; such as students can share their feelings or

what did they do last night, they can play a game to get start, they also can think for one

minute on a certain topic for open-ended sharing, teachers can discuss the agenda for

that particular day with the students to let them know what is going on for the day and

then they can ready to go. I believe that the students will be able to feel safe and be

respectful to each other and their teachers through this 15-minute Morning Meeting in

the classroom.
