A difficult hiring decision at Central Bank

 Problem
The regional VC has currently resigned from his position at central bank, and they needed a new
replacement. Three potential candidates have been selected in which one was selected internally ant
the other two are selected externally. All candidates are very good for the position which let HR
management team difficult to select the right candidate.

 Company’s expectations
Company wants all candidates to be easily flexible and adaptable like the former vice president of
the company. Former VP was highly liked by managers due to friendliness. Company also expects
good interpersonal and encouragement skills when selecting the right candidate for the position.
Company also expects focus on growth, profitability and customer loyalty.

 Skillset required
Candidate must have good leadership with team orientation, high adaptability with changes and
corporate governance skills. Candidate should have high level of communication skills.

 Swot Analysis of the selected employees

 Charlotte Webb
Charlotte Webb is the internal candidate for the VP post and well-known person within the
company. Charlotte puts great emphasis on self-development also she is known to be highly
intelligent and have good analytic skills.

Strengths Weaknesses
 She has very positive, with a can-do  Charlotte has never exited an

 Scott Warren

redeployed an extra 15 per cent. He also designed hiring process for sales staff, that is now
adopted by the other banks.

 Final Decision
Hire Charlotte Webb as she possesses the attributes that Central Bank is looking for. She has high
performance ratings over the last 6 years and also, she scored highest on the Employee Commitment
Index in the bank.
(1) But if Charlotte’s performance does not measure up to the company’s goals, then focus
training is needed to help her become the best employee she can be.
(2) For her extended maternity leave she can be provided with WFH.
